A zookeeper killed after a tiger entered the enclosure loved her job and “wouldn’t have done anything else”, her mother has said..
Rosa King (34) was “inspirational” and enjoyed working with her “beloved cats”, friends said.
The long-serving zookeeper died on Monday after what was described as a “freak accident” at Hamerton Zoo Park in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.
Distressed staff are said to have thrown meat into the enclosure in a desperate attempt to help Ms King during the incident on Monday morning.
Her mother Andrea told the Press Association her daughter had worked at the zoo for around 14 years, adding: “She wouldn’t have done anything else, it’s what she has always done, it’s what she has always loved.”
Cambridgeshire Police said the tiger had not been killed and was unharmed.
The gates to the attraction, which is in a rural lane surrounded by open fields, were locked on Tuesday morning as an investigation continued.
The zoo, which saw visitors evacuated when the incident occurred, said what happened appeared to have been a “freak accident”.
It said: “At no point during the incident did any animals escape their enclosures and at no point was public safety affected in any way.
“All our thoughts and sympathies are with our colleagues, friends and families at this dreadful time.”
One witness, Pete Davis, told BBC Radio 5 live: “You could obviously see the keepers were all distressed and, you know, not really knowing what to do, h eads in their hands.
“A couple of them were throwing meat over the enclosure to try and entice the tiger away.”

Some of those who knew the killed keeper have paid tribute to a woman they described as a “central point” of the zoo.
Garry Chisholm, 59, a wildlife photographer in his spare time who knew Ms King through visiting the attraction, said the place revolved around her.
Mr Chisholm, from Irchester, Northamptonshire, said: “Rosa wasn’t just a keeper at Hamerton Zoo – she was Hamerton Zoo.
“She was the absolute central point of it, the focal point of it. She was the shining light of it.
“It revolved around her.”
He added: “Her passion for the animals in her care was exceptional, though her favourites were undoubtedly the cheetahs which she would refer to as her pride and joy.
“The only consolation I can take from today’s tragic events is that Rosa is now reunited with her beloved Ares the cheetah, and Blizzard and Ladybelle, her beloved tigers.”
Philip Caso, a 20-year-old zoology student from Peterborough, got to know Ms King through doing work experience at the zoo each summer and c ommended her conservation efforts.
In a tribute on Facebook he wrote: “I’m literally devastated to hear that one of the most inspirational women I knew died at Hamerton Zoo.
“Rosa loved and respected those animals to the point where each and every one was like a child to her. Her passion for her job has really inspired me and I was just glad I got the chance to know her. Thinking of all the other keepers.”
Photographer Hollie Gordon, who said she became friends with Ms King through visits to the zoo, said: “Her passion for the animals, the zoo and conservation really shone through. She loved them all!”
The 24-year-old, from Blackpool, added: “I am in shock by what has happened. Terribly upset and can’t quite believe I won’t see her again with a big smile on her face and working with her beloved cats.”
The case has been referred to Cambridgeshire Coroner’s Office and a spokesman said an inquest will be opened next week, with no further information available before then.
Ms King’s mother asked that the family’s privacy be respected at this time.
A floral tribute left by the entrance sign to the zoo by a woman and child read: “We are so sad to hear of the tragic death of one of your zookeepers. Our thoughts are with all of you here at Hamerton and the lady’s family. Rest in peace.”

Nighttime, early morning bombings in Baghdad kill 31

Nighttime, early morning bombings in Baghdad kill 31
A massive bombing by the Islamic State group outside a popular ice cream shop in central Baghdad and a rush hour car bomb in another downtown area killed at least 31 people on Tuesday, Iraqi officials said.
Later in the day, bombings in and around the Iraqi capital killed seven more people.
The attacks come as Islamic State militants are steadily losing more territory to U. S.-backed Iraqi forces in the battle for Mosul, the country’s second-largest city. The Sunni extremists are increasingly turning to insurgency-style terrorist attacks to distract attention from their losses.
The nighttime attack outside the ice cream parlor in the bustling Karrada neighborhood killed 17 people and also wounded 32, police and health officials said.
A closed-circuit camera captured the moment of the explosion, the video showing a busy downtown avenue, with cars driving down the street when the blast strikes. A huge fireball then engulfs a building, forcing the cars to scramble to get away. Other videos of the attack posted on social media show wounded and bloodied people crying for help on the sidewalk outside the ice cream parlor.
In the second attack, an explosives-laden car went off during rush hour near the state-run Public Pension Office in Baghdad’s busy Shawaka area, killing 14, a police officer said. At least 37 people were wounded in that attack, he said.
In separate online statements, Islamic State claimed responsibility for the two attacks, saying its suicide bombers targeted gatherings of Shiites. The Associated Press could not verify the authenticity of the statements but they were posted on a militant website commonly used by extremists.
Later Tuesday, seven people died and 19 were wounded in four separate bombings in and around Baghdad, officials said. The attacks targeted commercial areas and a patrol of Sunni anti-Islamic State tribal fighters, they said. No group immediately claimed responsibility for those attacks.
All officials spoke on condition of anonymity in line with regulations.
The attacks came just days into the holy month of Ramadan, when Muslims fast during daylight hours. After sundown, families break their fast and Baghdad’s restaurants and cafes quickly fill up with people staying out long into the night.
During Ramadan last year, another section of Karrada was hit by a massive suicide bombing that killed almost 300 people, the deadliest single attack in the Iraqi capital in 13 years of war. Islamic State also claimed responsibility for that attack.
Details of how the militants managed to stage Tuesday’s attacks were not immediately clear. After last year’s attack, Iraqi authorities stepped up security in Karrada, especially in the area of the bombing.
In the northern city of Mosul, Iraqi troops are pushing Islamic State fighters out of their last strongholds. Iraqi commanders say the offensive, which recently entered its eight month, will mark the end of the Islamic State caliphate in Iraq, but concede the group will likely increase insurgent attacks in the wake of military defeats.

Judy malware could affect over 36 million Android devices

0

Millions of Android devices could have been affected by a new auto-clicking adware program found in apps developed by a Korean company.
Millions of Android devices could have been affected by a new auto-clicking adware program found in apps developed by a Korean company.
Uncovered last week by security company Check Point malicious apps included a series of casual cooking and fashion games under the ‘Judy’ brand.
They were able to evade the Play store’s screening checks because the malware payload is downloaded from a non-Google server after the programs are installed. The code then uses the infected phone to click on Google ads, generating fraudulent revenue for the attacker. Once notified by Check Point, Google removed the apps.
The apps have seen a large number of downloads, however, between four and 18 million, meaning the total spread of the malware may have reached between 8.5 and 36.5 million users.
Commenting on the infection, David Emm, principal security researcher at Kaspersky Lab says, “The build-up of digital clutter means that app cleansing and updating are now more important than ever to combat malware that uses apps’ vulnerabilities to penetrate devices. However, the most important thing is still to protect the device itself by employing Internet security software and implementing regular updates.”
Users are advised to have automatic updates set for their security software, backup data regularly, and change app settings to prevent apps gaining access to information on the device without the user being aware. Kaspersky also advises spring cleaning the device occasionally to get rid of any unused and unwanted apps.

Neumann: Ofiary katastrofy smoleńskiej powinny być pochowane we wspólnym grobie. Horała: Na Łączce też wrzucali razem do dołów

0

– Polska prokuratura prowadzi śledztwo, mamy raport komisji Jerzego Millera.

Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner taking 'heads down' approach

0

Two of President Donald Trump’s closest aides, daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner, are keeping their heads down.
Now, the White House power couple — she a special assistant to the President, he a senior adviser and head of the newly-formed Office of American Innovation — is laying low.
They are both “focused on their work, ” an administration official told CNN Monday.
The official said the two share a “healthy understanding that there’s attention on you when you’re at this level, ” adding that they are “unfazed” by the scrutiny of the past week. They have built a thick skin over the past few months in the White House and they recognize that a certain level of attention comes with the high-profile opportunities they have been given, per the official. And they’re used to attention on a smaller scale — they were public figures in the New York real estate scene long before President Donald Trump began his campaign.
The couple spent the weekend at Trump’s Bedminister Golf Club, where they married in 2009, for a planned trip with their three small children.
Back in Washington on Sunday afternoon, Ivanka Trump was spotted outside the White House, chatting with lawyer Marc Kasowitz before boarding an SUV together. The New York-based Kasowitz has long been the President’s lawyer and is helping represent him on matters related to the inquiry into his campaign’s alleged ties to Russia.
Ivanka Trump will not be involved in the White House’s internal, war room-like operation aimed at developing a rapid-response and communications strategy in an attempt to keep up with the special counsel’s Russia investigation, per the administration official.
The Trump-Kushner family relocated from New York City to Washington as the President took office in January. They settled their children into new schools and a new home in DC’s posh Kalorama neighborhood, just two miles from the White House, and around the corner from the Obamas. They’re staying put but have previously told friends they will continue to evaluate and reassess whether they plan to stay in Washington.
Ivanka Trump is “proud” of what her husband accomplished on the President’s first foreign trip, per the official. Kushner was instrumental in the planning of the nine-day, five country voyage. They returned to Washington a few days before it was over, departing from Rome. Per a White House official, the plan was always for them to depart after the first part of the trip, during which the President spoke to three of the world’s biggest religions in Saudi Arabia, Israel and the Vatican.
Ivanka Trump posted a video of son Theodore, 1, upon her return Friday morning, writing, “It’s hard to be away… especially when this little dude is waiting for you at home! It’s good to be back!”
President Trump released a statement to The New York Times on Sunday, offering praise for his son-in-law.
“Jared is doing a great job for the country, ” Trump said in the statement. “I have total confidence in him. He is respected by virtually everyone and is working on programs that will save our country billions of dollars. In addition to that, and perhaps more importantly, he is a very good person.”
Ivanka Trump, perhaps the President’s most trusted adviser, was not involved in the writing of that statement, the administration official said.
For now, Trump’s eldest daughter is moving full steam ahead in her West Wing role, where she serves as the President’s eyes and ears, providing input and insight on a wide range of issues.
She helped spearhead a federal paid family leave program that was included in the budget released last Tuesday while they were abroad. And she worked with Congress on anti-human trafficking initiatives. She held a roundtable discussion on the topic shortly before departing for the trip, met with human trafficking victims in Rome, and held another meeting on the topic at the White House on Friday. Last week, 13 bills were passed in the House to address the issue.

White House communications director Mike Dubke resigns

White House communications director Mike Dubke has resigned in what is expected to be a major shake up of President Trump’s senior staff amid the growing Russia scandal.
White House communications director Mike Dubke has resigned in what is expected to be a major shake up of President Trump’s senior staff amid the growing Russia scandal.
Dubke was tasked with managing communications strategy, working closely with White House press secretary Sean Spicer.
However, according to Axios, the White House’s communications operation — and Dubke and Spicer in particular — has been under fire by Trump and other senior officials who believe the communications staff have poorly served the president, particularly in the aftermath of the firing of FBI director James B. Comey.
Dubke said: “It has been my great honor to serve President Trump and this administration. It has also been my distinct pleasure to work side-by-side, day-by-day with the staff of the communications and press departments.”
Dubke, who only served in the post for three months, offered to stay on to help manage communications in Washington during Trump’s foreign trip, which the President accepted.
A Republican consultant, Dubke joined the White House team after campaign aide Jason Miller — Trump’s original choice for communications director — withdrew from consideration. Dubke is the founder of Crossroads Media, a firm that specializes in political advertising.
Dubke’s last day on the job has not been determined but it could be as early as Tuesday when he was expected to meet with his staff at the White House.

Standardowa procedura czy stygmatyzacja? Platforma pyta o zbieranie danych o Polakach obcego pochodzenia

0

Według resortu, to standardowa procedura.

Vive’s Deluxe Audio Strap brings integrated audio, enhanced ergonomics to your VR experience

At launch the HTC Vive VR headset definitely had its shortcomings, but the people at HTC seem to have decided that there’s no point waiting for a second generation to correct some of these issues.
The Deluxe Audio Strap, a $100 add-on that brings integrated audio and superior ergonomics to your Vive VR headset, is the first such upgrade available.
Generally speaking, I’ ve found the ergonomics on the Oculus Rift to be a bit more pleasing than the all-fabric Vive head strap. The Deluxe Audio Strap manages to surpass the original Vive and Rift in terms of comfort and provides a fit that may not rival the design of Sony’s PlayStation VR but still provides stellar balance that keeps the weight of the large face computer even more evenly distributed amongst your noggin. The sizing dial is a great addition, bringing a more snug fit to the Vive without having to fuddle around with straps.
Sound-wise, the new headphones are quite good but not great. At this point Vive owners already have or have likely invested in quality headphones beyond the included HTC earbuds to use with the VR headset. It’s the same question with the integrated audio on the Rift: how much does convenience matter to you? It’s definitely a personal question for consumers, any developer or company showing off demos on a Vive will undoubtedly buy this, if only to prevent the awkward exchange of putting headphones on someone’s head after they’ ve already donned the headset.
HTC has announced a slew of VR add-ons that when combined give the Vive a heavily updated feel. Though the company may be holding on to its existing hardware setup as a base model, heavy users can add the Deluxe Audio Strap for more comfort and better sound quality, but they can also add eye-tracking through the $220 specially-outfitted lenses from 7invensun or wireless capabilities using TPCAST ’s $250 system.
All of these accessories may be able to give your Vive a 1.5 generation feel but at a certain point modularity gets unfeasibly pricey. These three add-ons total $570 combined and while HTC is certainly trying to corner the extra-early, early adopter, it doesn’ t exactly bode well for the device’s affordability when the $799 price is suddenly the “base” model.
At $100, the Deluxe Audio Strap feels a bit more expensive than it should be for something that largely just brings the Vive slightly ahead of the Rift in terms of the things that headset already does well. Buying this might be an easier choice than other Vive upgrades but it really depends on how much cash you’ re willing to keep dumping into your financially-crippling VR habit.
At a certain point, you’ re still operating on first generation hardware and there aren’ t enough upgrades than can be bought to convince you otherwise. Virtual reality is already crazy expensive and adding non-standard upgrades into the experience is definitely a luxury, hence the “Deluxe” descriptor. The Deluxe Audio Strap is available starting next week, June 6.

Former Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega dies at 83 – Twin Cities

0

PANAMA CITY (AP) — Former Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega, a onetime U. S. ally who was ousted by an American invasion in 1989, died late Monday at age 83.
By JUAN ZAMORANO and KATHIA MARTINEZ
PANAMA CITY (AP) — Former Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega, a onetime U. S. ally who was ousted by an American invasion in 1989, died late Monday at age 83.
Panamanian President Juan Carlos Varela wrote in his Twitter account that “the death of Manuel A. Noriega closes a chapter in our history.”
Varela added, “His daughters and his relatives deserve to mourn in peace.”
Noriega ruled with an iron fist, ordering the deaths of those who opposed him and maintaining a murky, close and conflictive relationship with the United States.
After his downfall, Noriega served a 17-year drug sentence in the United States, then was sent to face charges in France. He spent all but the last few months of his final years in a Panamanian prison for murder of political opponents during his 1983-89 regime.
He accused Washington of a conspiracy to keep him behind bars and tied his legal troubles to his refusal to cooperate with a U. S. plan aimed at toppling Nicaragua’s leftist Sandinista government in the 1980s.
In recent years Noriega suffered various ailments including high blood pressure and bronchitis.
In 2016, doctors detected the rapid growth of a benign brain tumor that had first been spotted four years earlier, and in January a court granted him house arrest to prepare for surgery on the tumor.
He is survived by his wife Felicidad and daughters Lorena, Thays and Sandra.
Following Noriega’s ouster Panama underwent huge changes, taking over the Panama Canal from U. S. control in 1999, vastly expanding the waterway and enjoying a boom in tourism and real estate.
Today the Central American nation has little in common with the bombed-out neighborhoods where Noriega hid during the 1989 invasion, before being famously smoked out of his refuge at the Vatican Embassy by incessant, loud rock music blared by U. S. troops.
Known mockingly as “Pineapple Face” for his pockmarked complexion, Manuel Antonio Noriega was born poor in Panama City on Feb. 11,1934, and was raised by foster parents.
He joined Panama’s Defense Forces in 1962 and steadily rose through the ranks, mainly through loyalty to his mentor, Gen. Omar Torrijos, who became Panama’s de facto leader after a 1968 coup.
As Torrijos’ intelligence chief, Noriega monitored political opponents and developed close ties with U. S. intelligence agencies guarding against possible threats to the canal. Two years after Torrijos died in a mysterious plane crash in 1981, Noriega became the head of the armed forces and Panama’s de facto ruler.
Noriega was considered a valued CIA asset and was paid millions of dollars for assistance to the U. S. throughout Latin America, including acting as a liaison to Cuban leader Fidel Castro.
Noriega also helped the U. S. seize drugs at sea and track money laundering in Panama’s banks, and reported on guerrilla and terrorist activities.
Washington ultimately soured on him, especially after a top political opponent was killed in 1985 and Noriega appeared to join forces with Latin American drug traffickers. Foes in the Panamanian military attempted several coups but failed, and their leaders were summarily executed by firing squad.
The beginning of his downfall came in 1988 when federal grand juries in the Florida cities of Miami and Tampa indicted Noriega on drug-trafficking charges.
Initially he reacted with defiance at U. S. economic sanctions designed to drive him from power. He famously waved a machete at a rally while vowing not to leave, and in 1989 he nullified elections that observers say were handily won by the opposition.
U. S. President George H. W. Bush ordered the invasion in December 1989, and Noriega was captured and taken to Miami. During the operation, 23 U. S. military personnel died and 320 were wounded, and the Pentagon estimated 200 Panamanian civilians and 314 soldiers were killed.
Prosecutors accused Noriega of helping Colombia’s Medellin cocaine cartel ship “tons and tons of a deadly white powder” to the United States.
The defense cited court documents describing him as the “CIA’s man in Panama” and argued that the indictment “smells all the way from here to Washington.”
Jurors convicted Noriega in April 1992 of eight of 10 charges. Under the judge’s instructions, they were told not to consider the political side of the case — including whether the U. S. had the right to invade Panama and bring Noriega to trial in the first place.
During his years at a minimum-security federal prison outside Miami, Noriega got special prisoner of war treatment, allowed to wear his Panamanian military uniform and insignia when in court.
He lived in a bungalow apart from other inmates and had his own television and exercise equipment. He was said to be a TV news junkie and a voracious reader about politics and current events. Related Articles

After completing his 17-year sentence in 2007, Noriega was extradited to France and received a seven-year sentence for money laundering.
But Panama wanted Noriega to return to face in-absentia convictions and two prison terms of 20 years for embezzlement, corruption and murder of opponents, including military commander Moises Giroldi, who led a failed rebellion on Oct. 3,1989, and Hugo Spadafora, whose decapitated body was found in a mailbag on the border with Costa Rica in 1985.
In mid-2011, France approved his extradition to Panama.
Despite amassing great wealth, Noriega had worked hard to cultivate an image of a man of the people. He lived in a modest, two-story home in an upper-middle-class neighborhood in Panama City that stood in stark contrast with the opulent mansions customary among Latin American dictators.
“He would only say ‘hello’ very respectfully, ” said German Sanchez, who lived next door for 16 years. “You may think what you like of Noriega, but we can’ t say he was anything but respectful toward his neighbors.”
“The humble, the poor, the blacks, they are the utmost authority, ” Noriega said in one speech.
While some resentment lingers over the U. S. invasion, Noriega has so few supporters in modern-day Panama that attempts to auction off his old home attracted no bidders and the government decided to demolish the decaying building.
“He is not a figure with political possibilities, ” University of Panama sociologist Raul Leis said in 2008. “Even though there’s a small sector that yearns for the Noriega era, it is not a representative figure in the country.”
Noriega broke a long silence in June 2015 when he made a statement from prison on Panamanian television to ask forgiveness of those harmed by his regime.
“I feel like as Christians we all have to forgive, ” he said, reading from a handwritten statement. “The Panamanian people have already overcome this period of dictatorship.”
But for the most part Noriega stayed mum about elite military and civilian associates who thrived on the corruption that he helped instill — and which still plagues the Central American nation of some 3.9 million people, a favored transshipment point for drugs and a haven for money laundering.
“He kept his mouth shut and died for the sins of others, ” R. M. Koster, an American novelist and the biographer of Noriega, said in a 2014 interview. “Nobody else ever went to prison.”
Meanwhile, families of more than 100 who were killed or disappeared during his rule are still seeking justice.

Siri speaker latest rumours: release date, UK price and features

Rumour has is that Apple will launch a Siri speaker to rival Google and Apple. Read the latest on the Siri Speaker UK launch date, price specs and features.
Will Apple launch a rival to Amazon Echo and Google Home? It certainly seems so, and the rumours are starting to appear thick and fast after a couple years of speculation that Apple would launch a similar gadget. Find out what to expect at WWDC 2017.

Sonny Dickson, an Australian blogger who has been right on a few previous Apple rumours, recently tweeted:
And even more recently, well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted the device would include a touch panel of some description.
Expected launch date: 5 June 2017
Amazon has already stolen a march on the smart home assistant with the Echo and Echo Dot, and Google has answered Amazon with its own Google Home .
Apple’s September 2016 event came and went without so much as a mention of an ‘home speaker’ gadget. Many dismissed the rumours of such a product because Siri is already at your command in your pocket on your iPhone, and also now in your ear with the new wireless earphones, the AirPods, reviewed.
But with the new rumours, including one that Apple will announce the gadget at its WWDC in June, it could be just about ready to launch later in the year. And now, KGI Securities’ Ming Chi Kuo has released a new report saying there is “more than a 50 precent chance” a Siri peaker will launch at WWDC alongside a new 10.5in iPad Pro.
At least one report last year claimed Apple’s Siri speaker was been in development since before the Echo was launched. The theory about the late launch was that Apple was waiting until developers had added Siri support to their apps before launching such a device.
Siri can only be used for certain types of apps, but it should mean that you’ re far more likely to want to use the assistant when it can control your favourite apps. And if a dedicated Siri speaker were sitting on your mantelpiece which could relay messages and let you turn off the radiators in the bedrooms upstairs, well, that’ d be pretty handy.
And Apple already has a home hub of sorts: the Apple TV. What it lacks is a microphone and speaker, although the fourth-generation ATV does come with the Siri remote (above) which does have a microphone, and it’s easy to hook up a speaker to the box.
An ‘Apple Home’ speaker would be a neater, all-in-one solution.
Assuming it has been designed to do the same job as Amazon and Google’s devices, then it will be a smallish standalone (mains-powered) speaker that has far-field microphones which constantly wait to hear a phrase such as “Hey Siri” so you can ask a question or make a command at any time from anywhere in the room.
It should be able to do everything Siri can do now, including answering requests for information, directions, playing music, setting timers, adjusting the temperature and turning on and off appliances and lights.
A patent granted on 16 May 2017 appears to relate to the gadget, as it’s for an “Electronic device with radially deployed components”. However, it could also be for a new Mac Pro.
In any case, the diagram below shows “a cross-sectional side view of an electronic device showing how an array of components may be mounted to the exterior of a device housing in accordance with an embodiment.”
According to Dickson’s tweets, there could be a tie-in with Beats and could be styled like the Mac Pro. He also says it will have “same style UE Boom mesh” which means it could have fabric to soften its appearance in the home.
It’s also supposedly being marketed as an AirPlay device. This makes sense as AirPlay speakers exist already and this device would surely include that functionality.
Another tweet says ” Concave top with the controls, fat with the speaker mesh portion covering it all.”
Ming Chi Kuo reckons the device will have a touch ‘panel’, possibly like the Amazon Echo Show, or simply a capacitive area that might be used for interactions.
Others say it will include the W1 Bluetooth chip (found in Apple’s AirPods) , a custom ARM processor, one woofer and seven tweeters.
Until Apple officially unveils the device, it’s impossible to know which of these details are correct.
Again, information on this subject is from Ming Chi Kuo, who thinks the device will boast “premium audio” and that it will cost more than an Amazon Echo and Google Home.
The Apple TV costs £139 for the 32GB and £179 for the 64GB. Although it’s a slightly odd comparison, we’d imagine Apple would price a new gadget slightly higher than these. But would you pay £199 for a Siri speaker?
Apple products can already do much of what the Echo and Google Home can do, and Siri is already pretty much as capable as Alexa and the Google Assistant.
The firm launched HomeKit with iOS 8 in 2014, but although the software sounded exciting – you could use Siri to turn on your heating or shut the blinds – physical products which supported HomeKit have only recently become available, in the UK at least.
This goes some way to explaining why there’s a Home app in iOS 10. In iOS 8 or 9, you had to download an app specific to the hardware you’ ve got, such as the Elgato Eve Thermo radiator valve. Sure, you could use Siri to control the gadgets, but there was no central place where you could see all your HomeKit gadgets in one place.
The Home app addresses this and also allows you to create what Apple calls Scenes. With Scenes you can make several things happen with one command. Tell Siri, for example, “I’m home” and your HomeKit-compatible lights and heating can turn on, and your indoor security cameras can be disabled. Before iOS 10, you had to download a third-party app to get this kind of functionality, or rely on multiple apps to control HomeKit products individually.
