Mazurek: Nie znamy dziś ostatecznego projektu Ustawy 2.0

0

Nie znamy dziś ostatecznego projektu ustawy reformującej naukę i szkolnictwo wyższe; będziemy się do niego odnosić wtedy, kiedy zostanie przyjęty przez rząd – mówiła we wtorek w Sejmie rzeczniczka PiS Beata Mazurek.
We wtorek podczas Narodowego Kongresu Nauki w Krakowie wicepremier, minister nauki i szkolnictwa wyższego Gowin zaprezentował projekt nowej ustawy reformującej uczelnie i naukę, tzw.

Google's upcoming phone may let you launch apps by squeezing it

0

Google’s next phone may have a really interesting feature.
One possible interesting feature of Google ‘s upcoming Pixel 2 smartphone: You might be able to squeeze it to open apps.
Lines of code spotted by blog 9to5Google reference a new “Active Edge” setting that, with a squeeze gesture, can launch Google Assistant.
The thought of squeezing your smartphone might sound outlandish, but it shouldn’t.
Rumor has it HTC is building at least one of Google’s expected Pixel 2 smartphones (LG is apparently building a larger Pixel 2 XL.) HTC’s latest handset, the U11, allows users to squeeze the edges to launch applications such as the camera, Amazon Alexa and more. Different squeeze strengths can launch different apps, too.
If HTC really is building the phone — again, not outlandish since HTC built the current crop of Pixel smartphones — then Google would be smart to adopt the convenient and fun feature.
At the very least, it’s one we won’t see in the iPhone X .

Amazon announces faster Fire HD 10 tablet with improved battery, 1080p display and a lower price

0

It has been a while since Amazon launched a new Fire tablet, but today the online retailer has unveiled the all-new Fire HD 10. The processors, battery and screen have all been upgraded, but the starting price has been slashed to just $149.99 (or £149.99).
It has been a while since Amazon launched a new Fire tablet, but today the online retailer has unveiled the all-new Fire HD 10. The processors, battery and screen have all been upgraded, but the starting price has been slashed to just $149.99 (or £149.99).
The screen is a 10.1-inch 1080p affair offering 224 ppi, and the tablet’s processor has been upgraded to a quad-core chip, boosting the speed by up to 30 percent. Amazon claims the battery will last for up to 10 hours, and the addition of stereo Dolby Atmos Audio speakers has the sound side of things covered. The company also claims that the Fire HD is “more durable than the latest iPad Pro 10.5” (and costs a lot less too).”
Available in 32GB and 64GB models, the Fire HD 10 includes Alexa hands-free, and storage can be expanded by up to 256GB with a microSD card. Amazon has focused on performance here, doubling the RAM and adding two 1.8 GHz cores and two 1.4 GHz cores — perhaps not the speediest on the market, but a marked improvement.
The tablet also includes a new For You feature which Amazon explains:
The Amazon Fire HD 10 is available to pre-order now, and it will ship starting October 11 ( US link and UK link). The 32GB model costs $149.99/£149.99, and the 64GB version costs $189.99/£179.99

Erneuter Haarriss im Mittelfuß: Hinrunde für Bayern-Kapitän Neuer beendet

0

Reactions to Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi's speech

0

Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi has made her first speech about the mass exodus of Rohingya Muslims, a long-persecuted ethnic group targeted in a military crackdown following attacks by Rohingya militants on Aug. 25. More than 400,000 Rohingya have fled.
Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi delivered her first speech on Tuesday about the exodus of Rohingya Muslims, a long-persecuted ethnic group targeted in a military crackdown following attacks by Rohingya militants on Aug. 25. More than 400,000 Rohingya have fled to Bangladesh since then.
Suu Kyi asked for patience from the international community and suggested the refugees were partly responsible, saying more than half of the Rohingya villages had not been destroyed by the violence. The Nobel Peace Prize laureate, who was held under house arrest for years under a former military junta, invited diplomats to tour those villages.
Below are reactions to the speech from Rohingya who fled to Bangladesh, diplomats, human rights groups and citizens in Naypyitaw, Myanmar’s capital, where Suu Kyi spoke:
___
SANAULLAH, a Rohingya refugee in the Kutupalong camp in Bangladesh who uses only one name:
“I want to say that before Aung San Suu Kyi came (to power) we were living in peace. Aung San Suu Kyi came to power and spoke of democracy. When she was in jail, we were at peace. After she came out of jail, Aung San Suu Kyi became part of the government, when they formed the government, after that the torture started (of Rohingya).”
___
ABDUL HAFIZ, a Rohingya at the Kutupalong camp:
“What Suu Kyi told her people and the world is a complete lie. If what she said is not a lie then let the world media in, so that they can see whether we are tortured or we are happy. Let them see the plight of the people there. … Because of the torture in Muangdaw town (in Rakhine state) people ran away to Bangladesh. If it’s a lie, then you can throw me in the sea and kill me. We will not mind.”
___
ZAW HLANG, owner of a roadside fruit shop in Naypyitaw:
“We really support and are happy about what she has said to the international community. … What we want is only peace for the citizens of this country. We don’t want other countries to interfere or invade our country.”
___
PHYO KO KO, a computer designer who works at a computer shop in Naypyitaw:
“She said a lot about the development of the country and the people and showed that people should be united. I only know about the Rakhine issue as a religious and race conflict. I liked what she said. And I totally support what she said because she wants good things for the country.”
___
PAUL EDWARDS, UNICEF deputy representative:
“I’m always optimistic. She has stated she wants everyone to work together for peace and reconciliation so that’s what we take and that is what we will try and do.”
___
NIKOLAY LISTOPADOV, Russian ambassador to Myanmar:
“As a first step I think it was a good speech, a good message to the international community. I am sure further steps will follow because the message is quite clear that Myanmar is ready to cooperate with the international community, (and) is ready just to pay attention to all the concerns and worries of the international community.”
___
HONG LIANG, Chinese ambassador to Myanmar:
“I think this is a very good speech. It will help the international community have a better understanding of the situation here in Myanmar and in Rakhine and help the international community have a better understanding of the position held by the Myanmar government.”
___
JAMES GOMEZ, Amnesty International’s regional director for Southeast Asia and the Pacific:
“Aung San Suu Kyi today demonstrated that she and her government are still burying their heads in the sand over the horrors unfolding in Rakhine state. At times, her speech amounted to little more than a mix of untruths and victim blaming. … There is overwhelming evidence that security forces are engaged in a campaign of ethnic cleansing. While it was positive to hear Aung San Suu Kyi condemn human rights violations in Rakhine state, she is still silent about the role of the security forces in this.”
___
PHIL ROBERTSON, Human Rights Watch:
“I think that she was trying to claw back some credibility with the international community but was not prepared to go far enough. She said the right words… but when you peel it away, the ability to implement any of that is really very minimal. … When she says that 50 percent of the Muslim villages are still present in Rakhine state, what are we talking about? Fifty percent are gone. Fifty percent are burnt out. Fifty percent is a failing grade.”

Amazon’s new $150 Fire HD 10 could make you reconsider splurging on an iPad

Amazon’s been on a bit of a roll with its cheap tablets; this year’s Fire HD 8 is one of the best you can buy right now on a tight budget. Now the company is bringing the same value to a larger screen size with the new $150 Fire HD 10. Fire HD 8 $150 Fire HD 10
I was able to briefly demo the tablet in person, and it looks like another solid offering, especially considering Amazon has actually dropped the price compared to the previous HD 10. The specs are very respectable for the price point: 10.1-inch FullHD display (1920 x 1200) 224 ppi 32/64 GB storage options, with MicroSD expansion available Front and rear cameras Quad-core processor up to 1.8 Ghz, and 2GB of RAM Dolby Atmos speakers Alexa hands-free; Amazon’s first tablet where you don’t need to activate Alexa manually. Up to 10 hours battery life with mixed usage Black, Marine Blue, and Punch Red colors
At 224 PPI, the full HD display hits a sweet spot for a 10-inch screen size, especially considering the tablet is meant for media consumption. It’s not quite Retina-class, but you won’t notice much fuzziness at typical viewing distances, and colors and viewing angles seemed better than any of the other Amazon tablet’s I’ve tried.
Performance, meanwhile, was smooth throughout the brief demo and few minutes I was able to try it, with nary a dropped frame navigating the UI. The Dolby-tuned speakers also seemed refreshingly loud for a tablet its price. All this was true of the HD 8, so it’s no surprise to see it be the case here too.
But the biggest new feature for the HD 10 is its hands-free Alexa Mode, which will remain exclusive to this largest tablet, at least at launch. Alexa is deeply integrated into Amazon’s tweaked version of Android, allowing you to not only perform the usual search and calendar tasks, but do more specific things like fast forward and rewind video if your hands are grubby with food. Android
It can also behave like a more versatile Echo Show, especially if you get a case with a kickstand. Amazon has a clean full-screen UI for when the tablet answers questions, such as what the weather will be tomorrow or who won a sports game, and the company seems to envision users using the tablet from a distance with Alexa hands-free.
Of course, we can’t say anything about long-term performance and battery life until we spend more time with the device, but it appears to be another strong value offering from Amazon that hits a lot of ‘good enough’ checkpoints; not everyone cares about having the highest resolutions or fanciest cameras, after all. The tablet is available for pre-order today and begins to ship October 11. pre-order

Rekrutacja na studia: Uczelnie wprowadzą egzaminy wstępne

0

Wicepremier, minister nauki i szkolnictwa wyższego Jarosław Gowin podczas przedstawiania założeń nowej ustawy o szkolnictwie wyższym i nauce, tzw., Ustawy 2.0. zapowiedział, że uczelnie będą mogły przeprowadzać egzaminy wstępne na studia. W procesie rekrutacji uczelnia będzie musiała uwzględniać także wynik matur.
Wicepremier, minister nauki i szkolnictwa wyższego Jarosław Gowin podczas Narodowego Kongresu Nauki w Krakowie przedstawił założenia nowej ustawy o szkolnictwie wyższym i nauce, tzw., Ustawy 2.0. Kategorie A i A+ dadzą uprawnienia do nadawania habilitacji.

Moto G4 Plus will get Android Oreo despite what you may have heard

0

After some confusion, the Motorola G4 Plus is set to get an update to Android 8 software.
Some Moto G4 Plus owners were upset when the originally promised news of an upgrade to Android Oreo disappeared from Motorola’s marketing and it was suggested the budget handset wouldn’t ever be upgraded to Android 8.
Now, however, Motorola has confirmed it will be updating the Moto G4 Plus to Android O in the future to make up for any confusion.
A Motorola spokesperson told TechRadar, “It’s been brought to our attention that there were some errors in our marketing materials around Android O upgrades for Moto G4 Plus.
“This was an oversight on our part and we apologize for this miscommunication. It’s our general practice for the Moto G family to get one major OS upgrade per device, but it’s important to us we keep our promises, so in addition to the N upgrade it has already received, we will be upgrading Moto G4 Plus to Android O.”
The actual release date for Android O on the phone is unclear and the company has also said it will “take some time to fit it into the upgrade schedule” so it may take a little while.
Motorola doesn’t plan to upgrade the Moto G4 or the Moto G4 Play to Android Oreo, but you can see a full list of the devices Motorola is planning to upgrade here .

John Stamos, Finn Wolfhard to Star in Hollywood Bowl’s ‘Willy Wonka’

0

The live production follows in the footsteps of “Disney’s The Little Mermaid” and also features Elle King and “Weird Al” Yankovic.
The Warner Bros. classic film, Broadway adaptation, and Roald Dahl novel “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” will get the live-in-concert treatment this Nov. 3 and 4 with “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory In Concert at the Hollywood Bowl: A Live-to-Film Celebration.”
“Stranger Things” and “It” star Finn Wolfhard will play Charlie Bucket, with John Stamos singing “Pure Imagination” as Willy Wonka and “Weird Al” Yankovic as the Oompa Loompas. Elle King will take on the odious Veruca Salt singing “I Want It Now,” with Giancarlo Esposito as The Candy Man, Ingrid Michaelson as Mrs. Bucket, and Richard Kind as Grandpa Joe.
Concert Review: ‘La La Land’ Live is a Meta, Magical Experience at the Hollywood Bowl
Musical numbers from the Oscar-nominated score by Anthony Newley, Leslie Bricusse, and Walter Scharf including “The Candy Man,” “I’ve Got A Golden Ticket,” and “Oompa-Loompa Doompadee-Doo” will be performed live onstage accompanied by multi-instrumental band DeVotchka and a musical ensemble conducted by Jeff Hoeppner. DeVotcka’s Nick Urata will also serve as music director for the show.
“Willy Wonka is the first movie I ever saw,” said Stamos. “The film was released at a time when you could bring your own popcorn to the movie theater. I filled a whole grocery bag full of popcorn, but never touched it because I was so fascinated with what was going on behind Willy’s eyes. Gene Wilder as Willy was pure magic. Every time I watch the movie, and I’ve watched it more than several hundred times, I find something new. It becomes deeper, weirder, more charming and more of a mystery.”
The show will be presented in Smell-O-Rama, which means attendees will be presented with exclusive Scratch-N-Sniff Golden Tickets. The concert will also feature a factory of treats, including a costume contest and special projections on the surface of the Bowl created by acclaimed painter, designer, and illustrator Shag.
“Like our concert celebration of ‘Disney’s The Little Mermaid at the Hollywood Bowl,’ we are mixing in film, live music, singers, dancers, effects and special guest artists to create an event that pays homage to the original movie but also delivers something that could only be experienced live,” said concert director Richard Kraft. “Our creative mantra for this show has been, ‘Anything you want to: Do it.’”
Kraft was previously the director of “Disney’s The Little Mermaid In Concert Live-to-Film at the Hollywood Bowl,” as well as “La La Land In Concert” and “A Whole New World of Alan Menken.” Maximillian Castillo, who produced the “La La Land” City Hall aerial dancing production, will join him as concert director.
Carter Armstrong serves as music supervisor for the show, with choreography by Mark “Swany” Swanhart. Robert J. Ulrich, Carol Kritzer, and Alex Newman are the casting directors.
Tickets go on sale Sept. 23 at 10 a.m.
