The Latest: Menendez trial resumes with co-defendant opening

0

NEWARK, N. J…
NEWARK, N. J. (AP) — The Latest on the corruption trial of U. S. Sen. Bob Menendez and a wealthy campaign donor (all times local) :
10 a.m.
The corruption trial of U. S. Sen. Bob Menendez and a wealthy donor has resumed with an opening statement from the donor’s attorney.
Menendez and Florida eye doctor Salomon Melgen face bribery and fraud charges for what prosecutors say was a scheme in which Melgen lavished the New Jersey Democrat with gifts and donations in exchange for political influence.
Both men deny the charges and say there was no bribery agreement, but instead a long-lasting friendship that included gift-giving on both sides.
The first witness was expected to take the stand Thursday morning.
___
12: 10 a.m.
The question of “why?” and not “what?” could hold the key to U. S. Sen. Bob Menendez’s bribery trial.
An attorney for the New Jersey Democrat told jurors during opening statements Wednesday in Newark that he would concede that Menendez did all of the things prosecutors say he did.
Those included taking luxury vacations courtesy of Florida ophthalmologist Salomon Melgen and meeting and corresponding with government officials on issues that could affect Melgen’s business interests.
But attorney Abbe Lowell says jurors can’t find Menendez guilty unless they conclude he and Melgen had a bribery arrangement, something Lowell says there’s no evidence to prove.
Justice Department attorney Peter Koski says Melgen’s campaign contributions and other inducements corresponded to times when Menendez met with government officials to pressure them on behalf of Melgen.

Sicherheitsanalyse: PC-Wahl ein "Totalschaden"

0

Positional comparisons of New England Patriots in 2007 vs. 2017

0

Who would win in a theoretical matchup pitting the 16-0 Patriots from 2007 against the defending Super Bowl champion 2017 Patriots? Here are the position-by-position breakdowns, projected point spread and more.
Field Yates points out that Rob Gronkowski is the healthiest he has been in years and is primed to put up great numbers for the Patriots. (0: 56)
Coming off a disappointing AFC Championship Game loss to Indianapolis, the 2007 New England Patriots overhauled their receiving corps with Randy Moss, Wes Welker and Donte’ Stallworth. The result was the greatest offense the NFL has ever seen, a 16-0 regular-season record and a team that came within two minutes of a Super Bowl title.
A decade later, coming off a Super Bowl title, the Patriots have reloaded — and this time, they did it everywhere. They made Stephon Gilmore one of the highest-paid cornerbacks in the game. They traded for one of the league’s best young receivers, Brandin Cooks. They signed two highly efficient free-agent running backs, and they’re getting Rob Gronkowski back from injury. The season hasn’t even started, and there’s already plenty of talk of the Patriots putting up another perfect season, and this time finishing the job in Super Bowl LII.
So if the 2007 Patriots played the 2017 Patriots, who would win?
To answer that question, we can compare our forecast for the 2017 Patriots to the actual performance of the 2007 Patriots. But which forecast? Projecting the upcoming NFL season is about a range of possibilities. If we compare the average expectation for the 2017 Patriots to the reality of the 2007 Patriots, the 2007 team will win every time. That’s because the 2007 Patriots had almost everything go right; until the end of the Super Bowl, it was the best-case scenario of what that season could be.
So we’ve compared the 2007 and 2017 teams here, position group by position group. But we’ve also compared our DVOA ratings for the 2007 Patriots to our projections for the 2017 Patriots in two ways:
The results? At their absolute best, the 2017 Patriots would be better than the 2007 team — but it’s more likely that they will fall short of 2007’s regular-season perfection.
Note: You will see references to DVOA (defense-adjusted value over average) throughout. For more on DVOA, go here.
2007 DVOA: 43.5 percent (first in 2007 and first all-time)
2017 average projection: 17.3 percent (second in NFL)
2017 best-case scenario: 32.8 percent (first in NFL)
It’s hard to imagine a quarterback having a season better than Tom Brady did in 2007. His 88.2 Total QBR that year is the highest since ESPN’s metric began in 2006. But you might be surprised by how close Brady now is to Brady then. He had an 83.0 Total QBR in 2016, which means he’s coming off a better year than he was in 2007 (his Total QBR in 2006 was 71.5) . The depth chart behind Brady also reduces the advantage for the 2007 Patriots: Jimmy Garoppolo, a second-round pick with two career NFL starts, is a much more reassuring backup option than Matt Cassel, a seventh-round pick who had appeared only in garbage time.
Oddsmakers believe the 2007 version of the Patriots were better than this year’s team, which is favored by most sportsbooks to win the Super Bowl. 10 years later: The build, stunning end, and influence of the 2007 Patriots Ten games into the season, they were outscoring opponents by a whopping 25.4 points per game. It didn’t end in perfection, but what Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, Randy Moss and Co. did lives on today. Which teams have the NFL’s best talent under the age of 25? Football Outsiders ranks the franchises from 1-32, with two NFC East clubs in prime spots… and two others in the 20s.
Only two running backs had rushing DVOA above 40 percent with at least 20 carries last season: Mike Gillislee and Rex Burkhead. The Patriots signed them both this offseason. By comparison, Laurence Maroney and Sammy Morris had both put up below-average DVOA ratings in 2006. Pass-catching back Kevin Faulk is a Patriots legend, but Super Bowl LI star James White is his equal. The 2007 Patriots also had no back as agile (or as injury-prone) as Dion Lewis.
Pick your poison: Moss may be the greatest game-breaking wide receiver in NFL history, and Gronkowski may be the greatest game-breaking tight end in NFL history. But if you pick Moss, there’s a much better chance you can still use the poison in January. The 2017 Patriots also have Cooks, one of the top young receivers in the league; the 2007 Pats also had Benjamin Watson, one of the top young tight ends. Julian Edelman was supposed to play the Welker role, but now that will be Danny Amendola with Edelman out for the 2017 season. It’s a step down for the 2017 squad because Edelman was so in sync with Brady on option routes.
Three of the starters in 2007 were chosen for the Pro Bowl: left tackle Matt Light, left guard Logan Mankins and center Dan Koppen. Light was first-team All-Pro. Not one offensive lineman on the Patriots’ current roster has been selected for the Pro Bowl. The 2007 Patriots finished first in adjusted line yards and fourth in adjusted sack rate. The Patriots were ninth and sixth in those same stats a year ago.
2007 DVOA: -5.8 percent (11th in NFL)
2017 average projection: -6.0 percent (seventh in NFL)
2017 best-case scenario: -14.3 percent (first in NFL)
The 2007 Patriots played a 3-4 scheme, and all three starting linemen were first-round picks: Richard Seymour (2001) , Ty Warren (2003) and Vince Wilfork (2004) . The current interior linemen are rotated more. Alan Branch is a great run-stopper, but he’ll be 33 years old this season. Malcom Brown, a first-round pick in 2015, isn’t yet at the level shown by the fantastic trio of 2007 linemen. The 2007 team had an advantage on pass plays, but results were similar against the run. The 2006 Patriots were 10th in adjusted line yards, and dropped to 17th in 2007. The 2016 Patriots were 11th.
Another big advantage for 2007 over 2017. The Patriots had ranked 10th in adjusted sack rate in 2006, and improved that to second in 2007. They also ranked second in pressure rate (2007 was the first year Football Outsiders tracked pressure with game charting.) Last year, the Patriots ranked 27th in adjusted sack rate and 18th in pressure rate, and of the four players with at least four sacks last season, only Trey Flowers remains.
The top five linebackers for the 2007 Patriots were all 30 or over, including inside linebackers Tedy Bruschi (34) and Junior Seau (38) . Aging linebackers were a big reason the Patriots ranked fifth in defensive DVOA through Week 9, but 23rd in Weeks 10-17. The 2017 Patriots have 27-year-old Dont’a Hightower coming off a Pro Bowl year. Shea McClellin and Kyle Van Noy are also in-their-prime, high draft picks who have succeeded in the Pats’ scheme after disappointing with their original teams.
The Patriots went into 2007 with no cornerback depth behind star Asante Samuel and serviceable Ellis Hobbs. The 2017 Patriots signed Gilmore to form a star tandem with Malcolm Butler, and nickelbacks Eric Rowe and Justin Coleman each allowed less than 6 yards per target last year. Each team had a stud safety, but Devin McCourty is coming off a Pro Bowl season and is five years younger than Rodney Harrison was in 2007.
2007 DVOA: 3.6 percent (seventh in NFL)
2017 average projection: 4.1 percent (third in NFL)
2017 best-case scenario: 6.9 percent (second in NFL)
Stephen Gostkowski has been one of the NFL’s best on kickoffs since he arrived in 2006. But while the 2007 Gostkowski was still a youngster with no record of kicking NFL field goals in the clutch, the 2017 version of Gostkowski had three outstanding years on field goals until a 2016 off year. The other strong part of special teams in 2007 was the kickoff returns from Hobbs. Today’s Patriots aren’t special on kickoff returns, but they have one of the NFL’s best directional punters, Ryan Allen.
No coach in the NFL does more to adapt his scheme to his opponents’ weaknesses, which is why the Patriots are famously malleable and multiple on both offense and defense. But a couple of Bill Belichick’s tendencies remain consistent from 2007 to 2017: The Patriots rush only three players more than any other team, and they run their offense at a fast pace until they establish a big enough lead to run out the clock. One major change: Belichick, once among the most aggressive coaches in the NFL on fourth-and-short, has been closer to average since 2012.
2007 average DVOA of opponent: 2.0 percent (10th in NFL)
2017 average projected DVOA of opponent: -3.5 percent (32nd in NFL)
The secret weapon of the 2017 Patriots in their effort to repeat a 16-0 season: the schedule. By virtue of finishing first, the 2017 Patriots get to face a Houston team they crushed with their third-string quarterback in 2016, and a Pittsburgh team they’ve beaten repeatedly. By contrast, the 2007 Patriots had to play the Chargers, whom they barely beat in the 2006 divisional round, and the Colts, who had beaten them in the 2006 AFC Championship Game. The 2007 Patriots played the NFC East and AFC North, where all eight teams finished 19th or higher in DVOA. The 2017 Patriots will get the NFC South and AFC West, where most of the teams either combine a star quarterback with a shaky defense or have a defense but no quarterback.
The one similarity? In both 2007 and 2017, the rest of the AFC East was terrible.
Even a decade makes a big difference in the NFL. Quarterbacks today are more efficient with fewer turnovers, and teams score more points despite starting drives further from the end zone. Check out league averages in 2007 compared with how 2017 averages will look if current trends continue:
The percent of plays run from shotgun is a particularly interesting way to illustrate how the game has changed. The 2007 Patriots used shotgun on 50.4 percent of plays, the first team in NFL history to use shotgun more than half the time. The 2016 Patriots used shotgun on 53.5 percent of plays — and that ranked 27th in the NFL last season!
Based on the position-by-position breakdown, the 2007 Patriots are better at five positions, while the 2017 Patriots are better at four. The coaching is a push, and the schedule advantage goes to the 2017 edition.
In terms of a point spread, the 2007 Patriots would be favored over the average 2017 Patriots projection by 4.5 points. However, the best-case scenario 2017 Patriots would be favored over the 2007 Patriots by 0.5 points.

Ookla: US Wireless, Wireline Speeds Continue to Lag Developed World

0

The United States’ average wireless and wired network performance both grew over the past 12 months, but continue to lag…

Ookla has released its annual Speedtest.net report on wireless and wireline internet speeds in the United States, and the various carrier-specific and regional variations between different parts of the US itself. The average performance across the US had jumped dramatically in past years, but the last 12 months saw smaller gains.
Average download speeds for wired service grew 1.17x over the past 12 months, to 64.17Mbps from 54.97Mbps. Wired upload speeds grew to 22.79Mbps compared with 18.97Mbps a year ago, a jump of 1.20x.
Nationwide, XFinity takes the cake for fastest speeds overall (69.58Mbps) with CenturyLink the slowest by a significant margin (14.31Mbps) . It isn’ t clear why CenturyLink lags so far behind all other companies; the company is the third largest telecom provider in the US behind AT&T and Verizon.
Ookla notes just 51.8 percent of CenturyLink subscribers have access to a fixed broadband speed of at least 10Mbps, while 91.6 percent of XFinity customers can say the same. Ookla also found significant variation in performance depending on which region of the country you live in, though the breakdown isn’ t necessarily what you’ d expect:
The northeast, as a whole, lags well behind the rest of the country when it comes to average speeds. This is surprising on the one hand, since there are several large population centers in the northeast, and cities are generally thought to be synonymous with high wireline performance. It’s possible, however, that the rural areas of many of the small northeast states are underserved, lowering their overall ratings.
US wireless performance grew much less from 2016-2017 than it did from 2015-2016, rising 1.19x to 22.69Mbps compared with 1.33x the year before. The US also ranks much lower in the world when it comes to wireless performance. We’ re 15th in wireline download speeds, but 44th in wireless, just ahead of Oman. Average upload speed grew by 1.04x, to 8Mbps. We’ re 65th for upload speed overall, just behind Mongolia and ahead of Germany.
Rural areas in the US see slower overall performance, with an average download speed of 17.93Mbps. Averages are almost certainly not the best way to categorize this data, however. Having lived in multiple rural areas over the past six years, and with family that lives in several more, I can’ t think of a single time I enjoyed service remotely in the vicinity of 18Mbps while residing (temporarily or otherwise) in a county where the cows outnumber the people. Cell service tends to be good in an extremely narrow band alongside interstates and major thoroughfares, and a complete crapshoot otherwise. I’ ve lived in parts of New York State that were still EDGE-only at the end of 2014.
It’s also much more common to run into conditions where multiple carriers might be technically available, but only one is actually capable of providing a decent internet connection, and these conditions aren’ t changing quickly. When my parents moved to their current home in 2007, cellular service was erratic and untrustworthy. Ten years later, their cellular service is… erratic and untrustworthy (as is mine, when I visit) .
Ookla does discuss some of this, but it suggests the gap between acceptable performance in a city versus an urban area is just 7 percent (meaning a rural user is 7 percent less likely to see unacceptable cell performance) . That may be true on average across the entire country, but local situations can be considerably worse.
Moving on from the rural question, T-Mobile won top accolades for its network performance compared with Verizon Wireless and AT&T. T-Mobile has generally won accolades for its network improvements and expansions in recent years, courtesy of its 700MHz spectrum blocks. Verizon and AT&T aren’ t too far back, and Sprint, well… Sprint exists. We’ re glad it does, of course — not only do we favor increased competition here at ET, but Sprint clearly occupies a unique position in the market, competing as it does with AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile on the one hand (for voice service) and with the US Postal Service (for prompt packet package delivery) on the other. (For more on wireless network speeds, read our sister site PCMag’s Fastest Mobile Networks 2017.)
Overall, both wired and wireless speeds have improved over the past year, but there’s a long way for the US to go if we want to catch the other OECD countries. The geographic size of the US means rural areas will never completely close the gap. But it would be nice to see performance in these markets (both wired and wireless) improve in the not-too-distant future.
You can read the full Ookla Speedtest.net market report for more details; it includes tables that lets you see localized test results for individual cities and states.

Facebook wants you to put colors in your comments

0

After introducing colored status updates, Facebook seems to be testing a new feature that could also do the same to comments. A small number of users were reportedly able to use it.
As if putting crazy colors on status updates wasn’t enough, Facebook seems to want to go even further, by testing comments with colored backgrounds as well.
The new feature was initially discovered by The Next Web. As pictured above, users can make their comments a little bit more colorful (and psychedelic) by inserting gradient or solid colors behind the text.
Only a small number of users have reportedly been able to use the new feature as of yet, though it does appear to be currently limited to those on mobile.
Facebook unveiled its colored status updates feature back in December of last year, which was formerly an Android exclusive. However, it also made its way onto iOS and eventually the desktop, enabling anyone around the world to see and create eye-catching content on the platform.
We have reached out to Facebook for comment and will update the story once we hear more.
It is still not known if the company will push the feature towards a larger number of users and release it to the general public in the future. Either way, for now, we can continue making comments on Facebook statuses without any splash of color and send it as it is, plain and simple.

Szyszko w sprawie Puszczy Białowieskiej: Stawię się w Trybunale Sprawiedliwości UE

0

“Polska reprezentuje tylko i wyłącznie prawo i przestrzega dwóch dyrektyw: dyrektywy ptasiej i dyrektywy habitatowej i postępujemy idealnie zgodnie z prawem.

China lodges protest with S. Korea over deployment of THAAD launchers

0

China has lodged a stern protest against South Korea over the deployment of four additional Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) launchers, according to the foreign ministry.
The comment was made by Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang during a regular press briefing on Thursday, according to Reuters.
It comes just one day after Geng said that China “expresses serious concern” over the decision to deploy the additional launchers, adding that such a move can “in no way address the security concerns of the relevant countries” involved in the North Korean standoff.
Instead, it will “only severely undermine regional strategic balance and jeopardize the strategic security interests of China and other regional countries.
“Moreover, it will exacerbate the tensions and confrontation on the Korean Peninsula and complicate the Korean Peninsula issue, ” he said on Wednesday.
Geng also said that China urges the US and South Korea to “immediately stop the relevant deployment and remove the relevant equipment.”
South Korea deployed the four additional THAAD launchers to the US Forces Korea (USFK) base in Seongju early Thursday, just four days after Pyongyang launched its sixth and most powerful nuclear test.
The decision to deploy the launchers prompted some 400 protesters to turn up in front of the administrative building in Seongju. Thirty-eight people, including six officers, were injured during scuffles between police and demonstrators, a fire department official in Seongju told AP.
Four civilians also tried to cross the fence of the THAAD site before being arrested and taken to Kimcheon police station for investigation.
Authorities eventually managed to quash the unrest a few hours before the THAAD launchers arrived to the USFK base.
The THAAD system, designed to shoot down short- and intermediate-range ballistic missiles, has long been a source of controversy. Some South Koreans claim it will have negative health and environmental impacts. Others say the system will cause Seongju to become a prime target for North Korean attacks.
The South Korean government has called the Thursday deployment “provisional, ” acknowledging that an additional environmental impact assessment of the THAAD system is needed.
The decision to deploy the four additional THAAD launchers comes amid increased threats from North Korea, which shows no signs of ending its nuclear or ballistic missile tests, warning on Tuesday that more “gift packages” are on the way if the US continues its “reckless provocations.”
Pyongyang’s Sunday nuclear test prompted US President Trump to respond by saying that Washington was considering cutting trade with countries that do business with Pyongyang.
The US is also pushing for the United Nations Security Council to impose an oil embargo on North Korea, ban its exports of textiles and the hiring of North Korean laborers abroad, and subject leader Kim Jong-un to an asset freeze, according to a draft resolution seen by Reuters on Wednesday.
Nikki Haley, the US ambassador to the United Nations, said she wants the 15-member council to vote on the resolution on Monday. However, Russia’s UN ambassador Vassily Nebenzia said a Monday vote may be “a little premature.”
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that the North Korean crisis cannot be solved “by sanctions and pressure alone.”
“Without political and diplomatic tools, it is very difficult to shift the situation” on the Korean peninsula, Putin said at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok on Wednesday.
“To be more precise, I think it is altogether impossible, ” he added.
Both Russia and China have urged the US and North Korea to consider the double-freeze initiative devised by Moscow and Beijing, which would see Pyongyang suspend its nuclear and ballistic missile tests in exchange for a halt in joint US-South Korea military drills. However, that plan has been rejected by the US, which says it has every right to conduct exercises with its ally South Korea.

Putin and Abe agree North Korea is a threat to peace

0

In talks, the Russian and Japanese leaders agreed that North Korea threatened regional peace and global nuclear non-proliferation but didn’t agree on a way forward
Vladimir Putin has condemned North Korea’s recent launch of a ballistic missile over Japan.
After his meeting with the Russian President at an economic forum in Vladivostok, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said the two leaders agreed Pyongyang’s latest nuclear test posed a severe threat to both regional peace and global nuclear non-proliferation.
Putin’s disapproval stopped short of sanctions, however
He said “Resolving the situation on the Korean Peninsula […] is only possible through political and diplomatic means. First we need to dial down general tensions and then to begin dialogue between all interested parties, as proposed in the Russian-Chinese road map of gradual settlement.” No global consensus
China also continues to favour a diplomatic solution.
After President Xi stressed the importance of negotations in a telephone call with the US President earlier this week, however, Donald Trump expressed some scepticism about this tactic and refused to rule out military action.
With very little common ground, global leaders are struggling to agree an approach to an increasingly bellicose Kim Jong-Un.

Atlassian launches Stride, its most sophisticated collaboration tool

0

The collaboration software firm said Stride is aimed exclusively for corporate use, offering text, voice, video, file sharing and other workplace tools, some of which are unique in the market.
Collaboration software vendor Atlassian today unveiled a new enterprise product that provides text, voice, video, file sharing and other workplace collaboration tools that allow portions of group text threads to be set aside as sidebar tasks to be completed later.
Atlassian, which already offers a collaboration platforms such as Confluence and HipChat, referred to its new Stride offering as a product built “from the ground up” exclusively for corporate use.
As with HipChat, which the company bought in 2012, Stride will be offered in a freemium model, with additional features that require companies to pay $3 per user per month.
The Stride software was built to scale from startups with 10 employees to enterprises of more than 10,000, and includes security features such as secure file sharing and two-factor authentication.
The free version of Stride will provide messaging between unlimited users, chat rooms, group video and audio. The paid tier introduces dial-in features, screen sharing and remote desktop control.
Group text or voice chat meetings can also migrate to video chats, with team members able to be instantly notified of the change so they can get the full context of the conversation that was in progress.
Like HipChat, Stride will offer file sharing, video and voice calling, the ability to search previous messages and the ability to view images, which can also be annotated. Stride will also offer screen sharing, and remote-control access across multi-platform devices, including iOS, Android and Chrome.
While both HipChat and Stride are enterprise communication products, Stride brings together video/audio conferencing and collaboration tools “to offer the most complete communications tool on the market, ” said Steve Goldsmith, general manager at Atlassian.

“Others in the market have started doing one element of this and then bolting on additional features, [such as] chat products adding video, document collaboration adding chat, etc., but those experiences create friction and don’t help you communicate more effectively with your team, ” Goldsmith said. “We built Stride from the ground up so that these three powerful pillars – messaging, audio/video conferencing and collaboration tools – work seamlessly together, removing the friction in your day and helping your team move forward together.”
At the same time it’s offering unique features, Stride’s functions overlap with those that Atlassian’s HipChat and Confluence provide, which could be tricky from a marketing and product positioning perspective, according to Raul Castanon-Martinez, a senior analyst for enterprise mobility with 451 Research.
“It can also be confusing for channel partners and clients, ” Castanon-Martinez said. “Atlassian is positioning it as a separate product, which means that they are not imposing an upgrade path for HipChat clients to transition into Stride. This is a smart move because they will not force anyone to switch unless they are ready to do so.”

One feature Stride offers that Atlassian’s other products do not is to allow users involved in an online meeting to annotate comments, which can also be set apart from a group conversation to act as a sidebar “to-do” actions or decisions list.
The platform also provides something called “focus mode, ” which allows employees logged into Stride to notify colleagues that they’re busy; at the same time, messages can still be forwarded to those in focus mode and opened once it is turned off.
“People need to be able to step away from [the] treadmill of messaging to get work done, ” said Oji Udezue, head of product management for Stride at Atlassian.
Once actions or decisions lists are created, they can also be marked as completed by clicking an icon, Udezue said.

Castanon-Martinez said providers of team collaboration and business communications solutions should pay more attention to helping knowledge workers handle the overflow of notifications from email and IM and enable them to focus on “deep work.”
“As far as I know, Stride is the first product that does exactly that, ” Castanon-Martinex said. “There are other interesting products out there like harmon.ie Collage and Astrobot, but this is the first product from a major provider.”
Castanon-Martinez said there’s “a lot to like about Stride and it’s a big step forward for Atlassian, and one which places them ahead of the curve in terms of their vision for the future of business communications and team collaboration.
Features such as “focus mode” and the “action/decision” markup are similar to what some other collaboration products offer, and while Stride’s full capabilities are somewhat unique they won’t remain so for long, according to Castanon-Martinez.
“The sidebar is similar to what other companies are doing; for example harmon.ie Collage, which was launched over a year ago, has a similar feature, and other tools like RedKix and Astro do something similar with aggregation, consolidating notifications from email and IM, ” Castanon-Martinez said. “Having said that, Stride’s features are not impossible to replicate. I believe this is part of a larger trend; Stride is the first tool to come out with these features, but I expect others will follow.”

Goldsmith said Stride will gradually be rolled out beginning today to HipChat users as part of an early access program. The users can choose a” 0-click upgrade” if they want to move over to Stride immediately, “and will have all of their rooms, history and data when they arrive.”
Stride will be generally available later this year.
“If a HipChat team wants to stay on HipChat, they are more than welcome to, ” Goldsmith said. “But we believe that Stride offers the most complete communications offering on the market and teams will find huge value in bringing together team messaging, audio/video conferencing and collaboration tools all into one product.”
