Fußball: Darmstadt 98 und Änis Ben-Hatira geben Trennung bekannt

0

US Defense chief to visit Japan, South Korea

0

NewsHubThe four-day trip beginning next Wednesday will “underscore the commitment of the United States to our enduring alliances,” said US Navy Capt. Jeff Davis, who called South Korea and Japan “two critical US allies,”
His visit to two of America’s long-time treaty allies, where Mattis will meet with his defense counterparts in each country, comes amid questions surrounding President Donald Trump’s commitment to those alliances.
Trump had voiced a skeptical view of America’s relationships with Japan and South Korea during the 2016 campaign, saying Tokyo and Seoul should pay more for the thousands of American troops stationed in both countries.
There are approximately 50,000 US troops in Japan and about 28,000 in South Korea.
Mattis’ visit could be seen as an attempt to assuage those concerns. He made similar efforts this week in calls with key NATO allies and it is believed that he will also attend the NATO defense ministers’ conference this month.
“The folks in Japan are very happy about the visit,” a second defense official told CNN.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was the first world leader to meet with Trump after his surprise election victory, visiting the President-elect at Trump Tower in New York.
The Pentagon chief could also be sending a message to China and North Korea. Trump’s pick for secretary of state, Rex Tillerson, has sounded a hawkish note on China’s construction and militarization of islands in the South China Sea and Trump himself has said that North Korea will not be permitted to develop a nuclear missile capable of hitting the US.
Japan has made a concerted effort to boost its military capabilities, particularly in the area of naval and amphibious warfare, with an eye toward both North Korea and an increasingly assertive China. And South Korea has agreed to allow the US to deploy the THAAD anti-ballistic missile system to ward off threats from Pyongyang.
Asked about China’s actions in the South China Sea and the role America’s alliances in Asia during his confirmation hearings, Mattis said, “I believe allies contribute greatly to deterrence and modifying the behavior or misbehavior of those who would disrupt the global order. “

Trump talked about Mexico — but this time, the peso jumped

0

NewsHubThe Mexican peso strengthened against the U. S. dollar Wednesday as President Donald Trump appeared to take a softer stance against Mexico.
“I think traders are looking at U. S.-Mexico relations and getting the sense that it can only improve from here,” said Adam Button, currency analyst at ForexLive.com.
On Wednesday, Trump signed an executive order directing construction of a long-promised wall along the U. S.-Mexico border. But the president stopped short of some of his more inflammatory comments about Mexico.
“We also understand that a strong and healthy economy in Mexico is very good for the United States. Very, very good. We want that to happen,” Trump said in remarks at the Department of Homeland Security.
“By working together on positive trade, safe borders and economic cooperation, I truly believe we can enhance the relation between our two nations to a degree not seen before in a very, very long time,” he said. “I think our relationship with Mexico is going to get better. ”
The Mexican peso gained more than 2.3 percent against the U. S. dollar to trade just around 21 pesos against the greenback. Earlier this year, the peso hit a record low against the dollar and is still about 0.9 percent weaker against the dollar for 2017.
“Today he signed the order to build the wall, but he never talked about a tax on Mexico, increasing the fees on visas. He’s not reiterating Mexico is the one that’s going to pay for it,” said Andres Jaime, global FX and rates strategist at Barclays.
“A lot of people think that one of the main cards that Mexico has comes from securing the south border,” with Central America, Jaime said. “People think if Trump continues to be harsh with Mexico, the one card Mexico could play is we’re not going to cooperate with securing the south border. ”
Net migration from Mexico to the United States reached zero in 2012, meaning that as many Mexicans leave the United States as enter it. Job growth in Mexico has been widely credited for that reversal. But illegal immigration from Central America, usually through Mexico, has continued.
Ahead of Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto’s meeting with Trump for next week, Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray and Economy Minister Ildefonso Guajardo are talking with top Trump officials in Washington Wednesday and Thursday.
“They’re setting the stage for what could be constructive talks,” said Thierry Albert Wizman, global interest rates and currencies strategist at Macquarie.
“We’ve probably seen the peak in dollar-[peso],” Wizman said. He expects the currency cross to hover around 21 as “obviously not all the worry is out of the way. “

Trump lässt angeblichen Wahlbetrug prüfen

0

Selective Revanchist Recognition: Trump, Crimea and the South China Sea

0

NewsHubAs the administration of U. S. President Donald Trump settles into its first week in office, it’s run into no shortage of controversy. From sparking some of the largest — if not the largest — rounds of protest in American history, to spouting easily debunked claims on inauguration turnout, Trump’s first few days appeared to be a continuation of both his campaign and post-election push, marrying conspiracy with questions about what comes next.
As it pertains to disputed territories abroad, however, Trump’s team wasted little time in staking its claims. On Monday, White House spokesman Sean Spicer told American media that the United States will take appropriate measures to make sure international territory in the South China Sea remains just that: international. Speaking on the territorial questions in the region, Spicer said , “It’s a question of if those islands are in fact in international waters and not part of China proper, then yeah, we’re going to make sure that we defend international territories from being taken over by one country.”
In a sense, Spicer’s comments — which noted that the United States “is going to make sure that we protect our interests there”- – weren’t altogether surprising. Not only has Trump notably ratcheted up American rhetoric toward constraining Chinese interests, but, a few days prior, presumptive Secretary of State Rex Tillerson even lobbed the possibility of barring China outright from accessing the islands in question. “ We’re going to have to send China a clear signal that, first, the island-building stops and, second, your access to those islands also is not going to be allowed,” Tillerson told U. S. senators, all but endorsing an anti-Beijing blockade. (As Yahoo reported , Chinese media responded to Tillerson’s comments by noting that “unless Washington plans to wage a large-scale war in the South China Sea, any other approaches to prevent Chinese access to the islands will be foolish.”)
As it is, the Trump team’s approach to territorial integrity in the South China Sea — and to Beijing’s territorial expansionism — presents a stark contrast to Trump’s views on revanchism in Europe. As Crossroads Asia detailed earlier this month , Trump has displayed a discernible willingness to not simply support Moscow’s foreign policy, but to go so far as to open the door to recognizing the Kremlin’s claims in Crimea. It would, of course, be one thing to offer blanket recognitions for revanchist claims, from Sarajevo to the Spratlys — but Trump appears willing to allow certain irredentist claims to outweigh others.
It’s worth noting, of course, that the United States would remain in the distinct minority if he goes through with recognizing Russia’s claims in Crimea. But if Washington remains unwilling to recognize Beijing’s sovereignty within the South China Sea, it would refrain from joining the minority of nations backing China’s claims. In addition to the handful of countries who’ve supported both Beijing’s and Moscow’s expansionism including Afghanistan, Belarus, and Kyrgyzstan China has also enjoyed the support, as The Diplomat ’s Ankit Panda noted , of states like Gambia and Vanuatu. Likewise, despite claims by Chinese officials that 66 countries offered support, the Asia Maritime Transparency Initiative found a total of only 31 countries who’d “publicly voiced support for Beijing’s position[.]” More than Russia regarding its Crimean claims, to be sure, but a far cry from any kind of widespread support – although that doesn’t necessarily mean support for any kind of American blockade will necessarily follow.

Trump's Executive Actions are Un-American

0

NewsHubContact:
Jess Torres | 215.554.4797
WASHINGTON – César J. Blanco, political director of the Latino Victory Project , issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s executive actions on immigration today:
“The executive actions on immigration announced by President Trump today are simply un-American. President Trump’s executive actions go against the principles and values that our country was founded on and will only tear families apart. These executive actions seem to be part of his efforts to delegitimize our democracy and our values. We must respond to his actions by defending Latinos and all minorities from threats against our humanity.
“Let’s pause and take a moment to think of how history will judge these executive actions. Now is the time for allies to cast aside the privilege of silence and inaction, to stand with Latinos, Muslims, refugees, immigrants of all walks of life, and minorities fearful for their lives. Inaction has led to some of the darkest moments in our history, and we know that silence will protect no one. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said it best: “In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.
“We believe in the legacy of Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. They are symbols of our nation’s promise to welcome all and build a country together — a promise Trump has committed to trample on. Shame on him for sowing the seeds of hate and division. We will not allow him to tear us apart and cast our communities as criminals just for the color of our skin. This is not who we are as a country.
“We encourage everybody to check in on their loved ones and the most vulnerable in their communities. Show up for them, and let them know that we will press through the times ahead more ferocious than ever defending our people and the soul of our country. ”

The who, what and why in China’s latest VPN crackdown

0

NewsHubChina’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said in a notice earlier this week that all unauthorised virtual private networks will be banned as the ministry rolls out a 14-month campaign to “clean up” and “regulate” internet connection services. It appears the crackdown will target Chinese businesses and individuals involved in providing unauthorised VPN services. The ministry said late on Tuesday that VPN networks of multinationals approved by Chinese authorities won’t be affected. Individuals using VPNs on their computers or mobile phones will not be targeted directly. “As for VPN users in China, this new regulation doesn’t make using VPN illegal”, the website VPNDada.com said in a statement. The regulation does not specifically address how the crackdown will affect providers outside China. In practice, Beijing has always tried to block such services that help Chinese internet users bypass the “Great Firewall”. In one infamous case, the US consulate in Shanghai in August last year published a Weibo post seeking “reliable” VPN service providers. The blocking of overseas VPN services could intensify even though the latest notice did not mention the move specifically. “It’s certainly possible that they will try to shut down us and move onto government VPNs,” Sunday Yokubaitis, president of the popular Golden Frog VPN service provider that boasts a big Chinese client base, told the China will find it easier to crack down on businesses and individuals based in the country. Local telecoms authorities and operators can stop providing basic services such as access to servers. In extreme cases, the police force can be involved. As for overseas VPN service providers, China’s censors can block their websites, “ports” and VPN servers, according to VPNDada.com. In August 2015, a month before Beijing’s grand military parade marking the 70th anniversary of the end of the second world war, the reported that popular VPN provider Astrill had told users that China “was cracking down on IPSec VPNs using GFW [Great Firewall] auto-learning technique” to make its service unavailable on the mainland. The crackdown campaign has a time frame from now until the end of March, 2018. This does not mean it will stop after that date. It’s thought that during this time, VPN providers in China will either reapply for approval or simply close shop. At the same time, authorities will keep a close eye on how the rule is carried out. After March 31, 2018 certain penalties may kick in and the campaign will most likely continue with updated policies. Stability is the main theme in China this year as President Xi Jinping prepares for a reshuffle within the top leadership and a smooth transition to his second five-year term. Xi’s calls for “internet sovereignty” have translated into increasingly tight regulations on the nation’s cyberspace, such as introducing a cybersecurity law that requires security reviews of IT support for such sectors as finance, requiring tech giant Apple to remove the app of from its Chinese store, and these latest, tightening the screws on VPN services. The new rule will almost certainly disrupt business for Chinese and foreign firms operating in China. But a bigger concern is that China’s control of the internet is hurting its own attractiveness as a business destination. “The more that your business relies on access to standard global business essentials, like online banking, the more difficult it is to operate from China,” said Charlie Smith, the pseudonym of the co-founder of Greatfire.org, which has monitored China’s online censorship since 2011. “I don’t know how the Chinese leadership thinks that Chinese companies can ‘go global’ with internet connections that only ‘go local’.”

: Massive Nokia tablet expected at MWC 2017

0

NewsHubEveryone’s looking forward to MWC to find out what new Android phones Nokia has up its sleeve, following its recent comeback with the Nokia 6 , but what else could it announce? There’s a very good chance there will be a Nokia Android tablet too – though this won’t be your average Android tablet. Also see: Best Android tablets 2017
The currently unnamed Nokia Android tablet is expected to have an enormous 18.4in Quad-HD screen. That’s according to a GFXBench benchmarks listing in any case. You can read more about the Nokia Android tablet specification rumours below.
Nokia will have a presence at the annual Mobile World Congress tradeshow in Barcelona at the end of February 2017, and it has already confirmed it will be announcing new smartphones. The fact the rumoured Nokia Android tablet is in a state ready to benchmark suggests it is also nearing completion and may too get a big reveal at the show.
As to a specific UK release date we will have to wait and see, since the only Nokia Android device unveiled so far has been the China-only Nokia 6. Nokia has promised other phones will be available globally, but this does not necessarily extend to its tablets. We’ll update this article as soon as we know more.
It’s important to point out that all the Nokia Android tablet rumours appear to stem from a single GFXBench listing, shown below (click to enlarge) and discovered by NokiaPowerUser .
It would appear that the device is a rival to the monster Samsung Galaxy View announced at IFA 2015, which is currently available for just $399 in the US (via Samsung ). Like that device it has an 18.4in screen, though at a higher Quad-HD resolution of 2560×1440 pixels.
The Nokia tablet will run Android 7.0 Nougat, but the operating system is referred to in the benchmark listing as ‘Android FIH Edition’. Foxconn’s FIH Mobile owns rights to the Nokia brand.
It’s powered by the 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip (the same as is expected to be seen in the forthcoming flagship Nokia Android phone and Galaxy S8 ), along with the Adreno 540 GPU, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
GFXBench lists a 12Mp camera, 4G LTE, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, a Compass and cellular connectivity (single-SIM).

Do samochodu podszedł mężczyzna z podrobioną legitymacją polityczną – informuje RMF FM. Kierowca popełnił błąd i otworzył drzwi kabiny.
Pojazd potem porzucili w lesie i podpalili. Francuska policja próbuje teraz odnaleźć sprawców.
