Hori, a third-party accessory maker, might have just answered a few questions about the very hush-hush Nintendo Switch. A Twitter user leaked some alleged internal documents showing off Hori’s Nintendo Switch range.
An editor of Let’s Play Videogames has vouched for the accuracy of the leaks. So grain of salt and all that. Even if this is just idle speculation, it goes to show how eager the rabid fan base is for any and all details about the Nintendo Switch.
The big news is that Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild might be a launch title on Nintendo ‘s upcoming console. The Zelda skin set for a “March 2017” release strongly suggests that the game itself will come out alongside the new Nintendo console, which itself doesn’t have a firmer release window than that.
Hori also teased an arcade-style game pad, which would strongly suggest that we’ll be seeing a fighting game on the Switch sooner rather than later. More generic accessories include a charging dock for the Switch’s modular controller, a playstand, a traditional controller and different carrying cases.
Nintendo did not immediately respond to request for comment.

Millions of gamers have waited for over a decade for a remake of Final Fantasy VII and a true sequel to Kingdom Hearts II. Well, gamers, your wait will not abate any time soon.
Tetsuya Nomura, the director of both Final Fantasy VII Remake and Kingdom Hearts III , said both games are still a while away from hitting store shelves.
“I apologize that the wait will be a bit longer for Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy VII Remake,” Nomura told Japanese magazine Famitsu, according to Gematsu .
“We’re steadily progressing on production,” Nomura said of the Final Fantasy remake, while noting Kingdom Hearts III still has “some way to go. ”
This is bad news for those who are eagerly awaiting the titles, as Square Enix typically takes a while to make games even at the best of times. Hopefully it won’t be another fiasco like Final Fantasy Versus XII — a game that was announced in 2006 for PS3, changed to Final Fantasy XV in 2013 and finally released in 2016.
After years of spinoff and bridging titles , Kingdom Hearts III was announced at E3 2013. The last Kingdom Hearts game designed from the ground up for a console was Kingdom Hearts II , which was released all the way back in 2006.
Meanwhile, Square Enix first teased a remake to Final Fantasy VII, one of the most popular role-playing games ever, at E3 2005. It showed a “tech demo” of what the game’s opening sequence would look like on the then-upcoming PlayStation 3. The remake was made official 10 years later at E3 2015.
Kingdom Hearts fans will at least be able to whet their appetite for Kingdom Hearts III (again) with Kingdom Hearts 2.8 , a collection of games coming to the PS4 this month. It includes Birth by Sleep — A Fragmentary Passage, a short game built on the same engine as Kingdom Hearts III.

Not even Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) knows when the next “Game of Thrones” book will hit stores.
Getting George R. Martin to discuss his next book’s publication date is as tough as convincing Cersei Lannister to join the PTA. That’s why it was so surprising on Tuesday when the author actually answered a reader question about “Winds of Winter,” the scheduled sixth book in the ” Song of Ice and Fire ” saga that inspired HBO’s hit show ” Game of Thrones. ”
The fan certainly knew how to wheedle an answer out of the author, writing on Martin’s blog : “I respect you immensely and do not want you to rush or release anything until you are completely satisfied with it. That being said, it has been a whole year since we have received an update. You have placated our hunger with another superb sample and for that, we are grateful. But unless you want to be bombarded with (messages) like this, I would suggest another update. ”
And Martin actually responded! Not exactly in the way fans might hope, but it was still a response!
“Not done yet, but I’ve made progress,” Martin wrote. “But not as much as I hoped a year ago, when I thought to be done by now. I think it will be out this year. (But hey, I thought the same thing last year). ”
That might not be a lot in most fandoms, but since Martin’s fans are perennially stuck in a game of “Where in the World is the Next Chapter of Westeros? ” even the inkling that the book might come out in 2017 was huge.
Readers have been waiting for “The Winds of Winter” since 2011. That was when “A Dance With Dragons,” book five in the saga came out, and some fans hoped Martin was on a five-year cycle.
But 2016 came and went with no new book. Back in September, an incorrect listing on Amazon France claimed “Winds” would be out in spring 2017, but that rumor was shot down like Tywin Lannister in his privy.
With two seasons left, the HBO show has already broken away from sticking to Martin’s written works, passing up the stories in the books. Two seasons of the show remain, with one likely to start mid-2017, whether or not “Winds of Winter” has blown onto bookstore shelves.

The European Commission has proposed tougher, “high level” privacy rules for electronic communications, with a focus on restricting the advertising tracking powers of popular services such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Skype and Gmail.
The measures were presented yesterday under the title of Regulation on Privacy and Electronic Communications , and aim to “reinforce trust and security in the Digital Single Market”, while bringing standards in line with the incoming GDPR legislation .
First Vice-President Frans Timmermans said the proposals “will complete the EU data protection framework”, ensuring “the privacy of electronic communications is protected by up to date and effective rules, and that European institutions will apply the same high standards that [the EU] expect[s] from… Member States” .
The Regulation proposals name WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Skype, Gmail, iMessage and Viber specifically as examples of “electronic communications services” that the privacy rules will cover in order to “increase the protection of people’s private life”. The current ePrivacy Directive, the EU states, “only applies to traditional telecoms operators”.
Other proposals include “stronger rules” on making all people and businesses equally protecting in electronic communications, as well as a focus on protecting metadata “derived from electronic communications” with “time of a call and location” cited as an example of this.
“Both have a high privacy component and, under the proposed rules, will need to be anonymised or deleted if users have not given their consent, unless the data is required for instance for billing purposes” the proposal states.
Other ideas include “new business opportunities” for telcos based on obtaining proper consent from customers to use communications data, which could lead to “additional services” such as user heat maps, which could assist public and transport authorities with infrastructure projects.
Spam protection and simpler, more “streamlined” tracking cookie consent requests on websites are also mooted.
The proposals contain an interesting number of considerations for the current way many communications firms conduct business. Google is infamous for mining consumer Gmail accounts for marketing and tracking data, while Facebook is commonly believed to have launched the Facebook Messenger app specifically for this purpose too, now disallowing the use of the website’s built-in messenging ability when using Facebook on a mobile phone.
Clearly these revenue streams are important to such companies at the moment.
The level of protection being introduced for every end user may also be another interesting piece of discourse as the UK government continues – allegedly – to work on a Brexit pla while the IT industry ponders its own future. With UK laws now introduced to force telcos to hold some of the kind of data the new EU regulations plan to force companies to anonymise or delete, it’s possible an interesting window of crossover could emerge between current UK laws and proposed EU laws, with potential Brexit legislation decisions pulled into the mix.
