Intel unceremoniously killed its long-running Intel Developer Forum event series today with a terse announcement on the IDF site:
In past years, IDF served as a rich conduit for new x86-related product announcements, architectural details, and more happenings around Intel, making it one of the can’t-miss events of the PC hardware calendar. The Tech Report attended and reported on many an IDF over the years, but it appears that yours truly’s experience with the show will begin and end with IDF 2016.
In a statement to Anandtech , Intel says that as it broadens its non-PC businesses, a single event like IDF doesn’t let it communicate with its various communities the way it wants to.
