Various of the pre-installed apps received new versions
4MLinux 21.2 is yet another minor update of the independently-developed distribution, coming about five weeks after the 4MLinux 21.1 release. It’s here with a new kernel from the long-term supported Linux 4.4 series, namely Linux kernel 4.4.63 LTS, a bunch of updated packages, and better support for wireless APs that are protected with passwords.
« The release ships with the Linux kernel 4.4.63. Additionally, some popular programs (DropBox, FileZilla, Firefox, Java, LibreOffice, PeaZip) have been updated, too, » said Zbigniew Konojacki in the release announcement. « 4MLinux 21.2 includes changes in WiFi configuration files to fix the problem with password-protected access points reported by some users. »
The entire update process is fully automatic so you won’t need to do anything else, just make sure you reboot the computer after all updates have been successfully installed because there’s a new kernel too. If you’re new to 4MLinux, just grab the latest ISO image from the link above if you want to try the OS or install it on your PC.
