The phone comes with a dual-camera setup on the back
The device truly comes with some unique features and a stunning design. The first noticeable thing about the new phone is the impressive display, which seems to cover the front panel almost completely, leaving only a little space for the bottom bezel.
At the top, the display seems to stretch to the maximum, leaving a small cutout for the selfie snapper and revealing a fluent design that’s quite similar to the Xiaomi Mi Mix. Essential says the screen is an edge-to-edge “Full Display” with rounded corners and has an aspect ratio of 19: 10, wider than the Galaxy S8 and LG G6.
Still, it features an LTPS LCD screen, not OLED, with 500nits of brightness and a resolution of 1312 x 2560 pixels. Aside from this, it comes with two 13MP sensors on the back, one that’s RGB and a monochrome one. In addition, one sensor has f/185 aperture and offers telephoto and bokeh effects, while laser and phase detect autofocus are also available.
The main camera is an 8MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture, while back and front sensors have the capacity to record 4K video. The phone features a titanium frame and a ceramic back, while the display is covered by Gorilla Glass 5 coating. The PH-1 will be offered in two color options, Black Moon and Pure White, and Stellar Grey and Ocean Depths hues will arrive later.
When it comes to internal components, the device runs Snapdragon 835 with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, while featuring USB Type-C port and a 3,040mAh battery. In terms of pricing, the Essential phone will cost $700 and it won’ t arrive at US carriers.
For $50 more, customers can also get a number of accessories bundled in, including the 360-degree camera or the Essential Phone Dock for charging the phone using a magnetic dock. Other accessories will be launched soon.
