Brad Pitt appears on the cover of the Summer 2017 issue of GQ magazine, posing for a series of fashion photos taken in America’s National Parks. Pitt also got candid about his life as of late. Of his decision to quit drinking, he said: “I had to step away for a minute. And truthfully I could drink a Russian under the table with his own vodka. I was a professional. I was good.” He now drinks “cranberry juice and fizzy water, ” and he also says it wasn’ t hard to stop smoking pot, adding that “when you’ re a stoner, you get these really stupid ideas.” Pitt also revealed that when it comes to family, he admits “I gotta be more.” (Pitt’s wife and the mother of his six children, Angelina Jolie, filed for divorce from him last year.) “I grew up with a Father-knows-best/war mentality — the father is all-powerful, super strong — instead of really knowing the man and his own self-doubt and struggles. And it’s hit me smack in the face with our divorce: I gotta be more. I gotta be more for them. I have to show them. And I haven’ t been great at it.”
As host Steve Harvey would say, we’ ve got “two good families” coming up on “Family Feud” next month. On Monday, the Davis Family will be on the game show, and the Daniels Family will be on the “Feud” on May 18 and 19, according to a publicist for the show. Both families are from Detroit. “Family Feud” airs weekdays 7 and 7: 30 p.m. on CBS (Channel 62) .
High school student Jacob Staudenmaier had asked famous actress Emma Stone to go to prom with him in an elaborate video inspired by her film “La La Land, ” but she had to turn him down because of her filming schedule. Instead, she sent a corsage and boutonniere to the teen and his date, teen Caitlin Teefy. Stone sent the flowers with a handwritten note: “Jacob, a little something for you and your lucky date tomorrow. Have a great time! Much love, Emma Stone.”
Actor Cary Elwes comes to the Royal Oak Music Theatre on June 3 for “The Princess Bride: An Inconceivable Evening with Cary Elwes.” Elwes, who played Wesley in the 1987 fantasy rom-com, recently published a book about the film titled “As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the making of the Princess Bride.” Tickets to the event, $35-$125, are on sale at royaloakmusictheatre.com.
Pop firecracker Halsey is the latest artist to join the performance roster at Little Caesars Arena. The 22-year-old New Jersey singer — whose duet with the Chainsmokers, “Closer, ” spent 12 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart last fall — will perform at Detroit’s new downtown arena on Nov. 21, venue officials announced Wednesday. Drake -affiliated rapper/singer PartyNextDoor and London-bred pop visionary Charli XCX will open. Tickets, $69.50, $49.50, $39.50 and $29.50, will go on sale at 10 a.m. May 12. Pre-sales through AT&T’s Thanks program and for Citi cardholders will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The show is part of Halsey’s tour behind her sophomore album “hopeless fountain kingdom, ” due out June 2. The arena show marks quite a jump up for Halsey, whose last area concert was a sold-out July 2016 concert at Detroit’s Masonic Temple.
