Jay Cutler, cut by the Chicago Bears after eight years as their starter, will leave the game to become an analyst on Fox.
Cutler will work with Kevin Burkhardt and Charles Davis, Fox said .
“I started playing tackle football at age 10, ” Cutler said in a statement, “and was so lucky to have supportive parents and great coaches along the way.”
Cutler, 34, joins the longtime Cowboy Tony Romo as veteran quarterbacks who left the game this year to become broadcasters. Romo will be CBS’s lead analyst.
Cutler was drafted by the Rams, but he started his career with Denver, in 2006. He was traded in 2009 to the Bears for Kyle Orton and draft picks. The Bears now face the post-Cutler era at quarterback. In the off-season, they signed the free agent Mike Glennon and also traded a significant draft pick package to move to No. 2 from No. 3 in the first round and take Mitch Trubisky of North Carolina.
