Samsung has released a new OTA update in the UAE which bundles up the Android security update for May 2017 and a camera firmware update, as well as fixes that target Bluetooth and SD card stability.
While most users would hope that their shiny new smartphones would be 100% reliable out of the box, the reality is that smart devices tend to ship with software imperfections. In the case of the Samsung Galaxy S8, it was found that some displays were exhibiting a red hue, leading many to believe that it was a device defect. However, a software update has been progressively rolled out around the world to correct the issue.
Now, it appears that another OTA update could be on its way through the pipeline, having been offered to devices sold in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) . The update includes two headline improvements, which are:
With respect to Bluetooth, a bundled fix corrects a specific bug which, if triggered, would force a reboot of the smartphone when controlling music playback via a wireless speaker. Eagle-eyed users also spotted that the update also includes a camera firmware upgrade and the Android May Security update.
The update itself weighs in at just under 614MB, which should have most people waiting to be within range of a Wi-Fi network before initiating a download. Nonetheless, if you want to check if this specific update is available for your Galaxy S8, you can do so under ‘Settings’ then ‘Software Update’.
