Samsung sells 5 million Galaxy S8, S8 Plus units

Samsung Electronics has sold 5 million Galaxy S8s globally less than a month after launching, a figure that will likely be further boosted next month as availability expands.
Samsung Electronics has sold 5 million Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus handsets globally so far, the company said on Tuesday.
The figure comes less than a month after the South Korean tech giant began the global launch, starting with South Korea, the US, and Canada on April 21, and in the UK, France, Germany, and Italy a week afterwards. Pre-orders previously exceeded 1 million in South Korea.
The well-received phones will be available in 120 countries within the month, Samsung said.
They will also launch in China, where Samsung have seen its presence dwindle for the past two years, either in late May or early June.
Samsung also launched Bixby’s voice feature in Korea on April 30. English and Chinese voice options for their respective markets will roll out sometime during the spring, Samsung has previously said.
After launching, some users complained of red-tinted displays, which Samsung deployed a software update for .
South Korean analyst expect the Galaxy S8 to sell well, estimating that it will help the firm reach record profits in the second quarter coupled with strong demand for its memory chips.
