Michigan Rep. Mike Bishop says shooter was 'hunting us'

Rep. Mike Bishop, R-Mich., was among the congressmen participating at a congressional baseball practice early Wednesday, June 14.
ANN ARBOR, MI – Rep. Mike Bishop, R-Mich., was among the members of congress at a baseball practice early Wednesday, June 14, when a shooter open fire on the field.
« You could hear the ping, ping coming off the backstop,  » Bishop told Detroit radio station WJR . « It was rather unnerving, to say the least. »
House Majority Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana and several others were shot.
« I’m convinced he was hunting us because he was perfectly placed to take shots,  » Bishop told the radio station. « He came out the one exit that was there. »
Bishop wouldn’t speculate whether the shooter was motivated politically, but said the attack seemed calculated.
The person who was shooting looked awfully calm and awfully prepared,  » Bishop told WJR. « The world has changed for me, I don’t know what to expect. »
Charity baseball practice this AM when a loan gunman open fired on members of Congress and security. Several down – please pray for them.
I was present at practice, as well as a member of my staff. Both of us are okay.
Please pray for @SteveScalise and four others who were sent to area hospitals.
A congressional aide said Scalise was in stable condition at George Washington University Hospital.
Bishop has been the U. S. Representative for Michigan’s 8th congressional district since 2015.
He previously served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 1999 to 2003, and the Michigan State Senate from 2002-10, where he served as majority leader.
