Shooting at UPS facility leaves four dead, including gunman

A gunman dressed in a UPS driver’s uniform walked into a San Francisco UPS facility and open-fired, killing three employees and wounding two others before turning the gun on himself today.
San Francisco – A gunman dressed in a UPS driver’s uniform walked into a San Francisco UPS facility and open-fired, killing three employees and wounding two others before turning the gun on himself today. The package sorting facility employees 350 people. A daily morning meeting was taking place when the shooter, also a UPS driver walked into the meeting armed with an assault pistol and open-fired. When police arrived on the scene, they learned the shooter was still inside the building. A « contact team » was sent in and found the shooter, armed with his weapon. « The suspect put the gun to his head and immediately discharged the weapon,  » Assistant Police Chief Toney Chaplin told reporters, UPS spokesman Steve Gaut released a statement saying the all six of the employees were involved in a « shooting incident » but UPS was not releasing the identity of any of the victims until the police investigation is complete. The two employees wounded in the shooting were taken to area hospitals. Chaplin, responding to questions said the incident was not terror-related and at this time, there is also no motive for the shooting. Chaplin also said two weapons were recovered after the incident. « We are always saddened by the loss of life to gun violence. Any shooting is one shooting too many,  » San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee said on Twitter, according to The UPS shooting came just hours after a gunman opened fire on a GOP baseball team’s batting practice in Alexandria, Virginia today. According to ABC News affiliate KGO-TV, the San Francisco Police Department is saying the shooting took place at the United Parcel Service Inc package sorting hub in the area of 17th Street and San Bruno in San Francisco around 8: 55 a.m. local time this morning.
