One of the most requested features besides Backwards compatibility was the ability to gift games to other users on Xbox One. According to a new tweet from an Engineering VP over at Xbox, it’s close.
When the Xbox One launched in 2013, it lacked several features that its predecessor, the Xbox 360, had. From backwards compatibility to certain party features, gamers had a lot to say about the system and its software. One of the most requested features since launch was the ability to gift games to your friends or family on Xbox One.
Well, if this tweet from Mike Ybarra, the VP of Device and Platform Engineering over at Xbox is anything to go by, this feature should arrive soon:
Since Phil Spencer took the reigns at Xbox, the team has been hard at work updating the system to include features the community asked for. Backwards Compatibility is one of the features the previous team said was ‘impossible’, and was quickly implemented by the brilliant engineers over at Microsoft. Most recently, Spencer announced that they will bring original Xbox games into the mix as well.
It’s always good to see Microsoft taking to heart the requests of the community, even if it takes a bit longer to achieve, like Black Ops II backwards compatibility. Major Nelson must have been relieved after that finally arrived.
