Our nomination for the most patriotic campsite is…..
Ken and Carrie Swihart of Huron started coming to the NASCAR races held biannually at MIS. This is where they met a man named Richard Rix, who called them « pilgrims, » and, Pilgrimnation was born.
Rix, who passed away about five years ago, is honored at the completely decked out campsite. The Swihart’s, along with other friends, hand out wristbands and other swagger to anyone who passes through.
The couple started working on the design and execution for the campsite about three months ago. Its design features a huge bar with the Declaration of Independence inscribed on it, a Battleship beer pong table and many patriotic touches. Check out the photos and video tour, as it’s over the top.
