Still, some obvious choices managed to slip through the cracks.
The third and final season of the HBO show barely made a ripple in the nominations Thursday morning, earning just one guest actress nom for Ann Dowd.
While fans of the show — and showrunners Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta — are used to being left behind, the Carrie Coon snub was particularly painful.

To be clear, the “Gilmore Girls” revival wasn’ t good television, but it was great at what it was supposed to be, which is a sappy reunion of our favorite fast-talking, coffee-addicted mother and daughter.
For nostalgia’s sake alone, the Academy could have found some room in the limited series category, let alone for Lauren Graham’s mountaintop meltdown.
Bryan Fuller spent three years at NBC watching the Academy forget about the visually stunning “Hannibal, ” and the same seems to be true after a move to HBO as “American Gods” was left out of all cinematography and visual arts categories.
Rami Malek won outstanding lead actor for his role in “Mr. Robot” last year, but his name didn’ t even appear on the list Thursday.

“This Is Us” wasn’ t exactly missing during nominations — 11 nods, including seven for acting, will do that — but Mandy Moore’s snub was slightly suspicious.
Christine Baranski was an Academy favorite for years as Diane Lockhart on “The Good Wife, ” but the best accessorized lawyer on TV couldn’ t continue the streak in the CBS All Access spinoff.
There were plenty of shows with multiple nominees in the same category this year (see: “Feud, ” “The Handmaid’s Tale”) , but only one “Better Call Saul” star took home a supporting actor in a drama nomination, and Jonathan Banks was arguably the wrong choice.
