Venus Williams tried to hang in there and answer reporters’ questions after her first-round win Monday at Wimbledon. She really did.
But when Williams was asked about the fatal Florida car crash she was recently found “at fault” for, the words were hard to come by.
“There are really no words to describe, like, how devastating… I’ ve been completely speechless, ” she said.
That’s all Venus could muster. Then, turning toward the tournament official seated next to her, Venus suggested, “Maybe I should go.”
She did.

On June 9, Williams’ SUV “suddenly darted” into a Palm Beach Gardens intersection, per TMZ Sports. The other driver, the wife of 78-year-old Jerome Barson, T-boned Williams’ car. She told police there was no time to stop.
Mr. Barson suffered head trauma and was taken to a hospital and placed in ICU, where he died two weeks later. Barson’s wife was also taken to the hospital with broken bones and other injuries, according to the gossip website.
The family of Jerome Barson filed a lawsuit against Williams on Friday .
