« I just wanna take a quick moment to thank my (three) dentists,  » the actress/producer told audience members at The Theatre at Ace Hotel in Los Angeles Monday night. « I don’ t even know if they’ re here, but I just want to say thank you. »

Why thank a dental team ahead of a two-hour about a movie about a savage MI6 agent?
In Theron’s case, it’s because she strained so hard while training to play a woman who takes out countless men with punches, kicks, elbows, etc., that she clenched her mouth and cracked two back teeth, requiring surgery.
But the painful work paid off. The film’s resulting action sequences — which feature « 95-to-98-percent of (Theron’s) own fighting,  » according to stunt coordinator Sam Hargrave — look balletic, brutal and flat-out nuts. (There’s one relentless, uncut sequence set in a stairwell that had audiences shrieking, laughing and cheering.)
« She came, she saw, she conquered this movie,  » director David Leitch said about his star from the stage.
But Theron realized she wasn’t the only strong lady who should be praised for bringing the female-powered movie to life.
She added, « I am not at all opening the doors here. I think other women have stepped up to the plate. »
« The original atomic, my mom, came out to watch my kids (when) I got to kick (butt) every single day,  » Theron said.
