Autopsy to identify person killed in Berrien County crash

An autopsy will be performed to confirm the identity of the victim.
BERRIEN COUNTY, MI — A person was killed when their vehicle crashed into a tree and burst into flames.
According to a release from the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were called to the scene at 7: 12 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13. Police found a vehicle that had struck a tree and was fully engulfed in flames.
Once the fire was put out by Buchanan Township fire personnel, a single victim was found dead inside the vehicle. The victim was transported the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M. D. School of Medicine in Kalamazoo.
An autopsy will be performed to confirm the identity of the victim.
Police said the vehicle was travelling east on Glendora Road and ran off the roadway on a curve. The crash remains under investigation, and police said it is unknown if speed or intoxicants were contributing factors in the crash.
