A woman and her 6-year-old daughter are dead after their car crashed into a Sanford pond and overturned Saturday.
Just before 2 p.m. Saturday, officials said Jessica Kuk ran off the right side of Cedar Lane Road, overcorrected, ran off the road and overturned in a pond, according to multiple reports.
The N. C. Highway Patrol said speed was a factor in the wreck. Kuk was facing charges before her death.
