Trombone Shorty appears on 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert'

Music on « The Late Show with Stephen Colbert » is already quite New Orleans-y, what with Kenner native and NOCCA alum Jon Batiste as bandleader. On Monday night (Aug. 7) , it got even Big Easier, with Trombone Shorty performing « Here Come the Girls,  » written by Allen Toussaint and originally recorded by Ernie K-Doe.
The song is from Troy « Trombone Shorty » Andrews’ new album on Blue Note Records, « Parking Lot Symphony. » The New York Times calls the song « retro horn-heavy soul in a jovial remake. »
Shorty told Billboard magazine previously that he included Toussaint’s song on his new album because « everything in that song fits what we do. »
