Melvin woman will be cited in accident
At about 1 p.m. Monday, Sanilac Central Dispatch was advised by the Elk Fire Department of a personal injury accident at South Sandusky Road and Aitken Road in Elk Township.
According to Sgt. Shelly Park, the investigation determined that a 2009 Ford F-150 being driven by a 42-year-old Melvin woman was southbound when the woman attempted to pass two vehicles. While passing within the intersection, a 2004 Chevy Tahoe being driven by a 74-year-old Carsonville man was turning left onto Aitken Road. The two vehicles collided and came to rest in the southeast ditch of South Sandusky Road.
The Carsonville man was transported by Sanilac EMS to McKenzie Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries. The Melvin woman was treated at the scene and later sought treatment at McKenzie Hospital for treatment. It was determined that speed and alcohol were not factors in the accident and the Melvin woman will be cited.
The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office was also assisted by Elk Township Fire, Sandusky Fire, Sandusky Police and the Michigan State Police.
