Ubisoft has announced a free game mode that will arrive for Assassin’s Creed Origins as a post-launch update. The mode will be educational in nature, giving an in-depth look at Egyptian subjects.
Assassin’s Creed Origins is taking players to Ancient Egypt, the furthest back in time that an Assassin’s Creed game has ever been before. It seems Ubisoft is now taking this opportunity to provide players with some lessons in history, free of charge, by announcing a new educational game mode that will be introduced to the game in a post-launch update.
Titled Discovery Tour, it will be a mode separate from the main game, and in the company’s own words, will turn the « massive re-creation of Egypt into a combat-free living museum, with guided tours that let players delve into its history firsthand. » It certainly sounds like the mode will be a good way to take a break from all the parkour and assassinations we will be doing.
Players will find dozens of interactive tours around the game world that are curated by actual historians and Egyptologists. The subjects covered in the tours range from the Great Pyramids, and the life of Cleopatra, to in-depth looks at the mummification process.
The game’s creative director, Jean Guesdon had this to say regarding the mode:
While Assassin’s Creed Origins is slated to land on October 27, the educational Discovery Tour mode will be made available as a free update to the game in early 2018.
