« Words cannot describe the appreciation and love we feel for nurse Olivia, who mom calls her angel . »
Prepare to have your heartstrings tugged.
A Nashville, Tenn., nurse is making headlines after a video of her singing to a dying patient at Vanderbilt University Medical Center went viral.
The patient in question, 63-year-old Margaret Smith, was taken to the facility because her health began to decline, according to Fox 59. She’d been fighting liver cancer for nearly a year, but doctors said she wouldn’t survive a transplant.
Olivia Nuefelder, the nurse in the video, was by Smith’s bedside to comfort her with her favorite tune, « Dancing in the Sky » by Dani and Lizzy.
The video was posted on Facebook by Smith’s daughter and has since been viewed more than 3 million times.

Smith’s daughter added that in addition to singing to her, Nuefelder sat with Smith while her anesthesia wore off.
« Your dedication to your patients is beyond any that I have seen, » Smith wrote. « You truly are a beam of light and I cannot thank you enough for the compassion and care and love you shared for my mother. »
Smith was moved from the hospital to a nursing home in Cookeville, Tenn. She died on Wednesday.
Following her former patient’s death, Nuefelder spoke with radio station 1010 WINS about her encounter with Smith.
« Knowing that she will be dancing in the heavens and singing with the angels helps me find peace during this somber time, » she said.
