The latest trailer for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite reveals gameplay for Venom, Black Widow, and Winter Soldier while also confirming the release date for character pack 2.
After launching its first downloadable character pack back in October, many fans have been wondering when the previously announced trio of characters for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite’s second character pack would be coming. The Marvel heavy trio of Venom, Black Widow, and Winter Soldier have finally been revealed in a brand new trailer, showing off new gameplay and also confirming when fans can finally play as these iconic characters.
A fan-favorite character since Marvel vs Capcom 2, Venom retains many of the moves that made him popular back in the day. In Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, Venom fits more of the rushdown archetype, utilizing aggressive moves like Venom Fang and Web Throw to keep his opponents off balance. His new move called Venom Glide lets him quickly zip around the map in one of six different directions, allowing the player to keep the pressure on their opponent.
Black Widow is a newcomer to the series and brings plenty of traps and evasive techniques with her. As Capcom puts it, Black Widow has access to a number of evasive moves, meaning she won’t be easy to catch during a match. Offensively, she has a number of traps and gadgets available including multiple projectiles that can be fired from her wrist gauntlets. Some of these include a sticky bomb or a nerve gas which knocks down the opponent.
Bucky Barnes, aka The Winter Soldier, is the tankier one of the three, excelling at ground combat and debilitating his opponent. Similar to Chris Redfield, Winter Soldier has access to plenty of guns and firepower, but where he separates himself is with the use of his metal arm. His signature move is called Metal Shield which lets him essentially ignore damage for a limited time and dish out a lot of damage if he gets close. The drawback here is that his speed is reduced and he loses access to most of his move set.
Just like the first DLC pack, which included Monster Hunter, Black Panther, and Sigma, these characters are also coming with premium costumes when they become available on December 5th. Winter Soldier sports a more casual James Barnes outfit, Black Widow gets her cosmonaut skin, and players will be able to use the Anti-Venom outfit with this pack. All three characters are included for free with the 2017 character pass or can be purchased individually for $7.99.
Starting this weekend, fans who want to try out Marvel vs Capcom Infinite can do so starting on November 24th with a free demo exclusively on the PlayStation 4. Unlike the previously released story demo, this version opens up the game’s versus mode and lets players square off against an AI opponent or a second couch player. Better yet, all 30 launch characters will be available to play, so fans should be able to find one that fits their playstyle. During this time, the game will be on sale as long as the demo and promotion are active through November 27th.
Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
