HMD Global is expected to host an event on January 19 in China, where it would unveil two new devices, including its high-end Nokia 9 flagship and the second generation of Nokia 8.
HMD Global’s upcoming rumored flagship, the Nokia 9, has been the topic of several leaks over the past few weeks; some press renders made their way on to the Internet, giving us a glimpse of the handset’s design.
HMD Global is expected to host an event on January 19th in China, per new reports, where the company will release two new handsets: Nokia 9 and Nokia 8 (2018). As is usually the case for China, both devices will be customized for the Chinese market with Google services being replaced by local alternatives.
As for the specifications, both devices are rumored to come with a 18:9 aspect ratio panel, with the Nokia 9 shipping with a 5.5-inch QHD display. The two devices are also expected to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, dual cameras on the back, a USB Type-C connector, IP67 certification. It seems, however, that both devices will also lack a 3.5mm jack.
The Nokia 9 is also expected to come in two variants: one with 64GB of internal storage, while the second offering 128GB of internal storage. As far as the pricing is concerned, the base 64GB Nokia 9 is expected to cost CNY 3,699 ($560) while the 128GB model is expected to come at a CNY 4,199 ($635) price tag; pricing details for the Nokia 8 (2018) remain scarce.
There’s no word about the global launch of the handsets, but it’s likely that HMD Global will introduce the Nokia 9 in other key markets as well.
