Police breach home after man fires off two shots, hides in closet

ALMONT TWP, MI — A 35-year-old man was arrested Friday morning, Dec. 8, after he fired two shots inside a home and holed up until police breached the residence.
The incident began around 6:15 a.m. Friday as a report of a domestic dispute at a residence in the 4800 block of Shoemaker Road, according to a press release from the Almont Police Department.
Before police arrived, the man fired two shots off within the home, the release states.
Almont officers established a perimeter, and the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team was mobilized.
Police attempted to make contact with the suspect several times but were unsuccessful, the release states. Eventually, the special response team breached the home.
Members of the team found the man hiding within an upstairs closet and took him into custody around 10:25 a.m., according to the release. No one was injured.
