The year 2017 saw some big launches from smartphone companies like Google, Samsung, LG and others. Many of these flagship smartphones also got big price cuts during the year, making them more ‘affordable’. Here’s a look at some of the hottest smartphones that have received big price cuts.

Many of these flagship smartphones also got big price cuts during the year, making them more ‘affordable’. Here’s a look at some of the hottest smartphones that have received big price cuts.
Google’s this year flagship smartphones Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL too have got a price cut. While Google Pixel 2 has got a price cut of Rs 11,000, Pixel 2 XL has received a price cut of Rs 5,000. Google Pixel 2 64GB was launched at Rs 61,000 and is now selling at Rs 49,999 and the 128GB variant which was launched at Rs 70,000 can now be purchased at Rs 58,999. On the other hand, the Google Pixel 2 XL 64GB which the company launched at Rs 73,000 is now available at Rs 67,999, and the 128GB which came with a price tag of Rs 82,000 is now selling at Rs 76,999. Both the smartphones run Android 8.0 Oreo operating system and are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor.
Samsung slashed the price of 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant of its flagship smartphone Galaxy S8+ this year. Launched at Rs 74,900 in June this year, the smartphone is now selling at Rs 65,900 after a price cut of Rs 9,090. The smartphone comes with 12MP dual-pixel camera with f/1.7 aperture. The device runs Android 7.0 Nougat operating system and is powered by an octa-core Exynos Series 9 processor. Samsung Galaxy S8 also got a price cut of Rs 4,000. The smartphone came with a price tag of Rs 57,900 and is now available at Rs 53,900.
LG’s biggest flagship of the year, G6 launched in April this year at a price tag of Rs 51,990. The smartphone is now available at Rs 32,999, post a price cut of Rs 19,000. LG G6 is the first smartphone from the company to come with a 5.7-inch Full Vision display. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. The device offers 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. It comes with a dual rear camera setup with 13MP modules boasting of LED flash and in the front, there’s a 5MP shooter.
The HTC U Ultra which was launched in February this year got a massive price cut of Rs 22,000. Launched at Rs 52,990, the smartphone is now available at Rs 29,999. The highlight of the smartphone is the HTC Sense Companion app and the dual display. The smartphone comes with a 5.7-inch QHD LCD display and a 2-inch screen on top with 1040×160 pixel resolution. It is powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor clubbed with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. Backed by a 3,000 mAh battery, the smartphone offers 12 UltraPixel rear camera.
Sony’s flagship smartphone Xperia XZs smartphone also got a big price cut this year. Launched at Rs 49,999, the smartphone is now available at Rs 36,999 after a price cut of Rs 13,600. The main highlight of the smartphone is its camera. The smartphone sports a 19MP rear camera with LED flash and it is also capable of recording videos in 960 frames per second. The Sony Xperia XZs features a 5.2-inch Full HD TRILUMINOS IPS LCD display and runs Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage.
Launched in December last year, LG’s flagship smartphone V20 also got a huge price cut. The smartphone was launched at Rs at 54,999 and received a price cut of Rs 25,000. The smartphone is now available at Rs 29,999. The USP of the device is its dual display. The handset comes with a 5.7-inch Quad HD display of 1440×2560 pixel resolution and a 2.1-inch secondary display with 160×1040 pixel resolution. Powering the smartphone is a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC clubbed with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage (expandable up to 2TB). LG V20 has B&O audio support and is backed by a 3,200mAh battery with Quick Charge support.
Samsung’s mid-segment smartphone Galaxy A7 that launched this year too received a big price cut. Launched at Rs 33,490, the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) smartphone is selling at Rs 25,900 post the price drop of Rs 7,590. The device is powered by 1.9GHz s octa-core Exynos processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage. It is backed by a 3,600 mAh battery, 16MP rear and 16MP front-facing shooter.
Launched along with HTC U Ultra, HTC U Play received a price cut of Rs 10,000. The smartphone was earlier selling at Rs 39,990 and is now available at Rs 29,990. Like the U Ultra, this one also came with HTC Sense Companion app. It sports a 5.2-inch Full-HD (1080×1920 pixel resolution) and is powered by octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor. Running Android 7.0 Nougat operating system the smartphone offers 16MP rear and front camera.
Another mid-segment smartphone from Galaxy A5 (2017) also got a price drop. Launched at Rs 27,990, the smartphone is now available at Rs 17,990 after the price cut of Rs 10,000. Running Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the device sports a 5.2-inch display. It is powered by an octa-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage. The device packs a 3,000 mAh battery and 16MP camera on both rear and front end.
