EA reveals the details on a new update for Star Wars Battlefront 2 that aims to fix the game’s economy and progression system by increasing the amount of earned credits.
EA has had a string of bad luck these past couple weeks all stemming from its use of loot boxes and microtransactions. While the company is in the midst of dealing with the fresh EA Sports UFC 3 controversy, Star Wars Battlefront 2 appears to have started the long process of rebuilding fan trust by fixing a number of critical issues. A new update for the game aims to tackle the game’s stingy economy and progression system with the goal of improving the overall experience for players.
Today EA deployed an update for Star Wars Battlefront 2 that includes a number of favorable enhancements for players. The blog post that accompanies the update also makes it clear that these changes represent the initial first steps, with a lot more coming over the weeks and months. After a match ends, players will see an overall increase in the number of credits earned. While specific numbers weren’t provided, all players should see a decent increase in post-game rewards, though top players will receive an additional buff as well.
Arcade mode has been a source of contention once players found out that a credit limit prevents players from using the system to earn easy credits. As players continued to hit the credit cap faster than DICE assumed, the developer has increased the limit to 1500 credits per day, up from only 500. The post also revealed that the company is looking to deliver more content in this mode sometime in the future.
Lastly, Daily Login Crates will offer players more crafting parts than before. This was done largely to empower players to use those items to craft stronger cards rather than forcing players to rely on randomized cards purchased from scavenger crates with in-game credits.
This update leads off what appears to be a busy December for Star Wars Battlefront 2. With a new Star Wars movie only a few weeks away, EA is planning a new season of content around The Last Jedi. New content includes Captain Phasma and Finn as playable heroes, a new infantry map set on Crait, a Starfighter Assault map off D’Qar, and additional vehicles. On December 13, EA is also releasing the next part of the Inferno Squad campaign story called Resurrection, which details the rise of The First Order.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
