The White House responded on Monday to resurfacing allegations of sexual misconduct against President Donald Trump and calls for him to resign.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders was asked about the three woman who on Monday publically called out Trump for alleged acts of sexual misconduct, again responding by saying the president has already addressed and denied those claims.
“The president has addressed these accusations directly and denied all of these allegations, and this took place long before he was elected to be president,” Sanders said, adding that the American people voted for him after the allegations came to light.
Sanders was also asked about U. S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley appearing to break with the administration over the weekend when she said Trump’s accusers “should be heard.”
“He thinks it’s a good thing that women are coming forward, but he also feels strongly that a mere allegation should not determine the course, and in this case, the president has denied any of these allegations,” she said in response.
Another reporter brought up Trump telling Howard Stern in 2005 about walking into beauty queen dressing rooms unannounced on “The Howard Stern Show” (he owned the Miss Universe, Miss USA, and Miss Teen USA pageants from 1996 until last year).
“I’ll tell you the funniest is that I’ll go backstage before a show and everyone’s getting dressed,” Trump told Stern in recordings. « No men are anywhere, and I’m allowed to go in because I’m the owner of the pageant and therefore I’m inspecting it… ‘Is everyone OK?’ You know, they’re standing there with no clothes. ‘Is everybody OK?’ And you see these incredible looking women, and so I sort of get away with things like that.”
Sanders brushed off the question, saying: “The president has spoken about this directly. I don’t have anything further to add on the process.”
