The new price of the Mi A1 will look to attract more consumers who are in the market for a stock Android smartphone.
Xiaomi’s debut Android One smartphone, the Mi A1, has received a permanent price cut of Rs 1,000, which means it is now be available for Rs 13,999 on Flipkart and Mi.com. The Mi A1 was launched in India in September at Rs 14,999 and highlights a stock Android OS, metal unibody design and a dual rear camera setup, among other things.
Xiaomi India Managing Director Manu Kumar Jain announced the price cut via Twitter, posting, « Great news Mi Fans: announcing a permanent price drop of? 1000 on Mi A1! #MiA1: picture perfect flagship dual camera phone. Now available for a perfect price of ?13,999! » Interestingly, the price cut comes following the Flipkart Big Billion Days sale that saw a temporary price cut of Rs 2,000 on the Mi A1, making it available for Rs 12,999. The Android One smartphone from Xiaomi has been widely praised for offering a stock Android experience and perhaps the best dual camera performance in its class.
Xiaomi is hoping that the new price tag of the Mi A1 will make the device even more appealing for consumers in the market looking for a stock Android experience. At this price, the Mi A1 is in a better position to take on the Moto G5S Plus and the Nokia 6. Notably, the latter two also offer stock Android and all three are expected to receive Android 8.0 Oreo update.
