A Farmland man who has been the target of an arrest warrant since October this week was charged with molesting a 4-year-old girl.
WINCHESTER, Ind. – The legal woes of a Farmland man who has been the target of an arrest warrant since October increased significantly this week.
Brad E. West, 37, was charged Tuesday in Randolph Superior Court with two counts of child molesting.
According to a police report included in documents filed by Prosecutor David Daly’s office, West is accused of fondling a four-year-old girl last June.
Chad Puterbaugh, a Randolph County sheriff’s detective who investigated the allegations, wrote that West failed to show up for a scheduled interview, and then “(refused) to answer my calls.”
A warrant issued this week specified West would be held under a $70,000 bond when apprehended.
One of the molesting charges is a Level 1 felony carrying a standard 30-year prison term. The other is a Level 4 felony with a standard nine-year sentence.
West was charged last July with auto theft and conspiracy to commit forgery, also in Randolph Superior Court.
A warrant was issued for his arrest when he failed to appear for a pre-trial hearing on Oct. 11. The Farmland man also didn’t show up for his scheduled trial on those charges, on Nov. 1.
West was convicted of driving while intoxicated in Henry County in 2015. In Randolph County, he has been convicted of invasion of privacy (in 2011) and criminal mischief (in 2005).
