Award season can be hard for those who don’t have cable. While networks like E! air coverage practically all-day for certain awards, it can feel like you’re not part of the fashion and beauty party if you don’t have a TV to tune in. Don’t worry, though. You can stream the 2018 Golden Globes red carpet this year, and it’s basically like a new year miracle.
While Twitter has previously aired red carpet coverage, things are switching up this year with NBC and the Golden Globes. The network will be airing the entire red carpet on Facebook Live over at the show’s official Facebook page. That’s right. If you don’t have cable and have cut the cord (something becoming much more common these days), NBC isn’t leaving you out of seeing stars like Octavia Spencer and Emma Stone walk the red carpet.
In order to stream you’ll need to head over to the official Golden Globes Facebook page. The pre-show won’t just be stars walking by cameras, either. It will include interviews with the nominees, presenters, and those attending the ceremony. Basically, it’s a full blown red carpet show that’ll give you all the details of every celebrity arrival, every dress, and every funny moment of the 2018 Golden Globes red carpet.
As for when to watch, while the show itself begins at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT, the red carpet actually beings at 6 p.m. ET/ 3 p.m. PT on cable networks such as E! and the Facebook livestream via the Golden Globes Facebook. If however, you just can’t get enough red carpet coverage, E! will actually be starting their red carpet pre-show at 4 p.m. ET/ 1 p.m. PT. If you’ve got cable and want four hours of carpet coverage pre-Golden Globes, that’s your best bet.
If you do watch the live stream, the red carpet is sure to be rife with conversation. Perhaps the biggest news in Hollywood isn’t the awards at all but the outpouring of accusations of sexual assault in the industry in the past year. That is reflected in the creation of Time’s Up, a legal fund and awareness initiative set up to assist those who experience sexual assault and harassment in the workplace and bring about change in the entertainment industry. Celebrities such as Reese Witherspoon, America Ferrera, and Shonda Rhimes are just a few of the names supporting the initiative and propelling it forward.
Many celebrities will be wearing black to the red carpet as a way of showing a public protest of sexual harassment in Hollywood, but Time’s Up has also created another way for celebrities to show their support for the initiative. Reese Witherspoon commissioned costume designer Arianna Phillips to create a pin that can be worn on the red carpet. Instead of the blue ribbons of the ACLU or Planned Parenthood pins, celebrities will probably be sporting the simple black and white pin created for Time’s Up.
If you decide to take time of your Sunday to watch the 2018 Golden Globes red carpet stream, be on the look out for the Time’s Up pin along with several other causes celebrities have been known to publicly support.
During the 2017 awards seasons, GLAAD, Planned Parenthood, and ACLU pins all made appearance on carpet. Celebrities appear more engaged than ever, and it’s amazing to see them using their influence to inspire activism. Hopefully, as you peep their fashions, you also take time to investigate their causes.
If you want to see your favorite stars and their fashions, tune in to the 2018 Golden Globes red carpet live stream on their official Facebook page. With talented nominees and amazing presenters, the show and the carpet are sure to be can’t miss.
