No further details have been shared although the invite carries along with it the number 5, hinting, that Xiaomi may bring the Redmi 5 and the Redmi 5 Plus or the much-rumoured Redmi Note 5 to India on February 14.
Xiaomi’s event page on the Mi.com site, however, suggests the company may launch the Redmi Note 5 alone or alongside the Redmi 5 and the Redmi 5 Plus. Whatever be the case, it’s all but certain, that the Redmi Note 5 will be one of the star attractions of Xiaomi’s product launch.
A JavaScript code managing the countdown timer on Xiaomi’s website reveals a subdirectory titled ‘redminote5’. If the wasn’t enough, the meta description of the event page reads, « Presenting the all-rounder #GiveMe5. » The Redmi Note 4 has undisputedly been Xiaomi’s all-rounder phone so far, and it’s only befitting that its successor would take the legacy forward.

If at all Xiaomi launches the Redmi Note 5 in India on February 14, it would entail in a global launch. Xiaomi, to recall, globally launched the Mi A1 in India and by the looks of it, the Redmi Note 5 may be heading to that road as well. A new batch of renders of the alleged Redmi Note 5 recently hit the internet showing off Xiaomi’s upcoming Redmi Note 4 successor in all its glory. At the same time, the renders, confirmed ongoing leaks and rumours regarding the design of the alleged Redmi Note 5.
As per the renders, the Redmi Note 5 was seen sporting a full-metal body and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, much like the Redmi Note 4. Unlike the Redmi Note 4, however, the Redmi Note 5 was seen sporting a larger 5.99-inch 1080p+ 18:9 display on the front and dual cameras consisting of one 16-megapixel sensor and another 5-megapixel sensor (for portrait selfies) on the back. The Redmi Note 5, in addition, would reportedly come in three colours: gray, black and blue.
On the inside, the Redmi Note 5 will reportedly be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor clubbed with up to 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB storage. It is said to run Android Nougat-based MIUI 9, and fueled by a 4,100mAh battery.
