Xiaomi launched its most affordable Redmi smartphone – the Redmi 5A ( review) in India last year. Marketed as a ‘ Desh Ka Smartphone’, all units of Xiaomi Redmi 5A are manufactured in India. At the time of launch, the Redmi 5A was made available in Dark Grey and Gold colours. Now, the brand has launched the Rose Gold variant of the device in the country.
Coming to the spec sheet of the Redmi 5A, it has a 5-inch HD display and is powered by a Snapdragon 425 SoC. The processor has been clocked at 1.4GHz and paired with an Adreno 308 GPU. Coming to the variants on offer, the Redmi 5A is being offered with 2GB RAM + 16GB storage, and 3GB RAM + 32GB storage configurations. There is a dedicated memory card slot as well that accepts microSD cards up to 128GB in capacity.
In the imaging department, there is a 13-megapixel primary camera with LED flash and Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF). For selfie lovers, there is 5-megapixel snapper with advanced modes like Smart and Pro Beautify. The handset runs MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat and is powered by a 3,000mAh battery. Given that this is an India-focussed smartphone, Xiaomi is shipping a custom charger with the Redmi 5A in India, which can support power surges up to 380V.
The Rose Gold variant of the handset has already gone on sale starting today on Flipkart and Mi.com. The handset will set you back by Rs 4,999 and Rs 6,999 for the 16GB and 32GB storage options respectively.
