Chinese tech giant Huawei has launched the Porsche Design Mate RS smartphone at the same launch event where the P20 and P20 Pro flagships were unveiled. This time again the company continued its partnership with the luxury design house of Porsche just like it did on Huawei Mate 10.
The new Huawei Porsche Design Mate RS is identical to the Huawei P20 Pro in terms of specifications, but it comes with some major differences. The main difference is the removal of the notch display and the placement of the rear triple camera setup. Other major highlights of the Huawei Porsche Design Mate RS are 512GB of inbuilt storage and an under-display fingerprint sensor.
Just like the Huawei P20 Pro, the highlight of the Huawei Porsche Design Mate RS is its triple rear camera setup. It also bears an 8MP sensor with 3x optical zoom thanks to its Leica telephoto lens. The second one is a 40MP RGB sensor, while the third one is a 20MP monochrome sensor. Also, between the larger lenses, there is a laser transmitter and a Leica color temperature sensor.
The rear camera has a light sensitivity up to ISO 102400. The company also boasts the most powerful zoom on a smartphone. Apart from its 3xoptical zoom, the Huawei Porsche Design Mate RS offers 5x lossless hybrid zoom and 10x digital zoom. Up front, it has a 24.8MP fixed focus camera with a f/2.0 aperture.
The Huawei Porsche Design Mate RS runs EMUI 8.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. It is powered by the octa-core Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset coupled with a dedicated NPU for AI processing. The Huawei Porsche Design Mate RS has 6GB of RAM and up to 512GB internal storage.
The Huawei Porsche Design Mate RS sports a 6-inch QHD+ (1440×2880 pixels) OLED FullView display in an 18:9 aspect ratio. It is IP67 certified for dust and water resistance. The phone also features a 360-degree Face Unlock feature that is said to unlock the phone in just 0.6 seconds.
Another highlight of the phone is, the home button doesn’t come with fingerprint support, and the fingerprint sensor is moved to the rear panel and there is an under-display fingerprint as well. The under-display sensor wakes up the phone if you hover a finger over it. The smartphone sports a 4000mAh battery with Huawei SuperCharge fast charging and wireless charging support.
The Huawei Porsche Design Mate RS price starts at EUR 1,695 (Rs. 1,36,400 approx.) for the 256GB inbuilt storage variant. While the 512GB variant goes up to EUR 2,095 (roughly Rs. 1,68,600). The phone will go on sale in select regions from April 12. The Huawei Porsche Design Mate RS will be available in Black and Red color options.
