To flash this Android Oreo-based custom ROM on your Galaxy S7 Edge, your device needs to be rooted, bootloader unlocked and should have the TWRP recovery installed already.
The Galaxy S8 /S8 Plus users received their Android Oreo update a few weeks ago, and also the Galaxy Note 8 got it recently as well. The Galaxy S7 Edge users are pretty excited, as now it’s their turn to experience the Oreo flavor, however, sadly it won’t be coming for the next few months or so. With that said, for those who are impatient and can’t wait to get their hands on Android Oreo 8.0 on the Galaxy S7 Edge, the developers at XDA (Ridwan.sn) have got your covered by porting the Galaxy Note 8’s Oreo ROM for your Galaxy S7 Edge.
The ported ROM comes with most of the features found on the Oreo of the Galaxy Note 8 and also comes with Samsung Experience UI 9.0, which is the latest skin of TouchWiz. Apart from that, the ROM also packs the latest security update, that is the March Security patch which is baked in here.
Moreover, most of the highlighting features on Oreo are found to be working without any issues, but the smart-view function has some bugs and will be fixed soon. Other than that, the S-Pen features, obviously with some constraints. Furthermore, scaling and resolution issues are also sorted out and so is the backlight bug which was reported earlier.
To flash this custom ROM on your Galaxy S7 Edge, your device needs to be rooted, bootloader unlocked and should have the TWRP recovery. Place the ported ROM file on your internal storage, boot into the TWRP recovery. Tap on Install and navigate to the ROM file and Select it. Now just SWIPE to confirm the flashing process, and you’re done. Now reboot, and you’ll have Android Oreo 8.0 running on your Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
