Vivo V9 launched in India Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has launched its flagship smartphone Vivo V9 in India at Rs 22,990. The smartphone will be exclusively available online on Amazon and users can pre-book it now. Being the successor to Vivo V7+, the V9 comes with more screen-to-body ratio and has the controversial iPhone X-like ‘notch’ on top of the display. It has a 6.3-inch IPS LCD ‘FullView’ display and runs Android 8.0 Oreo operating system. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 processor, the V9 packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. The handset has a 24MP selfie camera along with f/2.0 aperture and features like portrait mode, AI enhancement, AR Stickers and others. There is a 16MP (f/2.0 aperture) and a 5MP (f/2.2 aperture) rear camera setup as well with LED flash.
Facebook- Cambridge Analytica controversy Social networking giant Facebook was in news this week courtesy one of the biggest data breaches of all time. This began in 2014, when an academic of Russian origin at Cambridge University in the U. K created a Facebook app which asked the users to take psychological test. While taking the test, the users were asked to key in the data of their Facebook Friends. Later, Kogan sold the data to a voter profiling company in the UK in the name of Cambridge Analytica. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg also came forward and talked about the issue. He said, ““I started Facebook, and at the end of the day I’m responsible for what happens on our platform. We have a responsibility to protect your data, and if we can’t then we don’t deserve to serve you.”
Apple confirms Siri notification bug fix coming soon Earlier this week Apple users reported a bug involving Siri, which the company has recognised and will soon release a fix for it. Apple seems to have unknowingly left a major loophole open in its newest iOS versions and the smartphone, iPhone X. If a user asks Siri to read out notifications, the assitant starts doing so even if the phone is locked. Now, Apple seems to have take note of this widespread issue and has confirmed a fix is coming soon. The company said, “Apple is aware of the issue and it will be addressed in an upcoming software update,” said the firm. It has however, not yet revealed when exactly the fix will arrive.
Garmin fitness tracker with 1 year battery Smart wearables maker Garmin launched the Vivofit 4 fitness tracker in India this week. Priced at Rs 4,999, the company claims that the device offers battery backup for one year on a single charge. Exclusively available on Amazon India, the device comes with features such as time, date, daylight saving, alarm clock, timer and stopwatch. It tracks steps taken, distance covered, calories burnt, monitors sleep, as well as suggest personalised step goal for the day.
Asus Zenbook Flip S Taiwanese manufacturer Asus launched its latest convertible — Zenbook Flip S in India. Claimed to be the world’s thinnest convertible the device is priced at Rs 1,30,990. The laptop is made from aerospace-grade 6013 aluminium alloy. It comes in Royal Blue colour option. The ZenBook Flip S is powered by an 8th Generation Intel Core i7 processor coupled with 16GB of RAM. The device features a 13.3-inch NanoEdge multi-touch screen and runs Windows 10 operating system. The Zenbook includes a Harman Kardon-certified stereo audio system, combined with next-generation ASUS SonicMaster audio technology.
