Carrie Underwood suffered a terrifying fall last year while she was letting her dogs out on a chilly November day.
The country music superstar revealed she had to undergo emergency reconstructive surgery after severely injuring her face after the fall.
“It’s crazy how a freak random accident can change your life. In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well. I’ll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told [my husband] Mike that he had put between 40 and 50 stitches in,” she wrote on her blog this winter.
Carrie has made few public appearances since her injury. She’s made a concerted effort to keep her face concealed and made one of her first reemergences into the public eye last week during an ACM performance.
Underwood looked incredible per usual and fans were relieved to see that she was doing well.
But today, the first close-up photos of Carrie Underwood without any makeup have surfaced. And her scar looks barely visible.

Her scar is apparently directly above her upper lip but it’s very hard to tell. It’s just good to see that Carrie is doing well after that terrifying accident.
