Gmail’s web interface hasn’t been updated for a while now, and it appears Google will be doing just that in the coming weeks. On top of that, the company will also be adding several neat features to Gmail.
This upcoming redesign to Gmail’s web interface was detailed by The Verge, which managed to obtain an email from Google that was sent to G Suite administrators. In the email, the update will add a “fresh, clean look” for Gmail on the web, a Smart Reply feature – similar to the mobile version – and the ability to “snooze” emails. Interestingly, there will also be offline support.

The email also noted that the redesigned Gmail will be available as an Early Adopter Program (EAP) – it will be rolled out to both G Suite customers and personal Gmail accounts. The EAP is likely in place so that Chrome extensions can be tested thoroughly with the new update before it’s widely available.
At the time of writing, it still remains to be seen exactly when Google will launch the new Gmail web interface. The company did, however, confirm with The Verge that the update is being worked on.
