By the looks of social media reaction, Sunday’s Jesus Christ Superstar was the most successful of NBC’s live-musical experiments thus far, with stars John Legend (Jesus), Sara Bareilles (Mary Magdalene), Alice Cooper (King Herod) and Brandon Victor Dixon (Judas) all earning widespread praise. And with the exception of Bill O’Reilly, they also seemed to dig the simple costumes and production design.
