BUCKEYE TWP, MI — A two-vehicle crash in rural Gladwin County has claimed the lives of a mother and her son.
Just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3, Gladwin County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported crash on M-61 near the intersection of Littletown Road in Buckeye Township. Upon arrival, deputies found two passenger cars had collided.
One car had been driven by 74-year-old Joan Fisher and contained her 50-year-old son, Brian Scherzer. Both suffered fatal injuries, with medical personnel pronouncing them dead at the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.
Deputies believe Fisher’s vehicle crossed the center line and crashed into the other vehicle. Poor weather conditions and speed are believed to have contributed, according to police. The incident remains under investigation.
