Today, Samsung announced information for its DeX Pad, which allows users to turn their Galaxy smartphone into a desktop-like experience. It will be made available on May 13 for $99.99.
Today, Samsung announced availability for its DeX Pad, which allows you to connect a Galaxy handset and use it like you would a desktop PC. The device was originally announced alongside the Galaxy S9 and S9+ back in February.
The DeX Pad replaces the previous DeX Station in the lineup, and it still contains two USB 2.0 Type-A ports, HDMI, and USB Type-C for charging. What’s new is that DeX has multi-resolution support for monitors now, with support for 1600×900,1920×1080, and 2560×1440 displays.
« The Samsung DeX Pad bridges the gap between smartphone and desktop. With its desktop interface, and easy connection to a mouse, monitor, and keyboard, DeX Pad helps you get the most out of your favorite apps, » said Alanna Cotton, senior vice president, Samsung Electronics America. « DeX Pad is more than an accessory, it is reflective of our philosophy of mobile technology: innovative devices and services, working together seamlessly, to help consumers do more. »
Samsung’s new DeX Pad will be available on May 13 for $99.99, and you can pre-order it beginning today. Also, for a limited time, it will be free with the purchase of a Galaxy S9 or S9+ from Samsung.com. In addition to supporting the latest flagships, it also works with the Galaxy S8, S8+, S8 Active, and Note8. It requires Android 8.0 Oreo to work.
