Armed man fatally shot by Livonia police

According to news release sent by Livonia Police, the man, was initially pursued by Westland Police.
An armed man was shot and killed by Livonia police on Friday after he fled a scene and disobeyed an officer’s command to stop.
According to news release sent by Livonia Police, the man, who officers say was reportedly suicidal and armed with a gun, was initially being pursued by Westland Police at 7:45 p.m.
Westland police ended the pursuit in the area of Hix and Joy Road, but the man was spotted running on foot, armed with a handgun in a residential area just north of that intersection in Livonia.
Officers responded to the area and set up a perimeter to search for the man, who was found and armed with the handgun.

« The subject fled on foot, disobeying officer’s commands to stop, » the release said. « Livonia officers tried to take the subject into custody and shots were fired by a Livonia police officer. Tragically, the subject was pronounced deceased at the scene. »
No new information was immediately available Saturday and the investigation is ongoing and being investigated by Livonia Police, Plymouth Township and the Michigan State Police.
