Rumours are circulating that Fortnite might be about to be released on Android, two months after the game first appeared on iOS.
A number of prominent YouTubers are reporting, via GameRevolution, that they have been approached by Epic Games, Fortnite’s developer, and invited to participate in an upcoming beta of the game.
With Google I/O 2018 set to take place in just a couple of hours, it would make sense for this to provide the venue for the game’s Android announcement, especially given the conference’s focus on apps and software.
Fortnite is one of the most popular games in the world right now. Like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, it features a popular Battle Royale mode in which a hundred players fight to the death to be the last person standing.
It’s also free to play, which has made it incredibly popular with kids and has lead to a wave of Fortnite scare stories from the UK’s tabloid press.
These rumours are pretty far from an official confirmation, but with a game as popular as Fortnite it’s likely that Epic will want to find itself on as many different platforms as possible.
We’ll be reporting Google I/O’s main keynote as it happens, so check in with our live blog for all the latest news as it happens to see if Fortnite does indeed see an Android reveal.
