This Iowa Arts Showcase broadcast features an interview with the Des Moines Symphony’s Music Director and Conductor, Joseph Giunta. The symphony will be presenting their concert, “Masterworks 7: Seasons Finale – Rhapsody in Blue” on Saturday, May 19th at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, May 20th at 2:30 p.m.
The final program of the DMSO’s 80th Season begins with the swirling music of the waltz king, Johann Strauss, Jr., and ends with Ravel’s brilliantly colored take on the music of Strauss, La Valse. But first, their season of ‘Music in Motion’ concludes as award-winning pianist Charlie Albright returns to play Shostakovich’s 2nd Piano Concerto and George Gershwin’s iconic Rhapsody in Blue. Abright’s artistry and passion will bring you to your feet!
