Texas’ most prominent football star is once again helping out his community.
Texans star JJ Watt pledged Saturday to pay for the funerals of the 10 people killed in the Santa Fe High School shooting, according to ESPN.
Ten others were wounded when Dimitrios Pagourtzis, 17, opened fire at the school, which is about 30 miles south of Houston.
Watt’s only public statement on the shooting was a tweet he sent out in the morning after it occurred.
“Absolutely horrific,” he wrote.
After Hurricane Harvey left parts of Texas and other regions in the south decimated, Watt created a GoFundMe page that wound up raising $37 million for relief efforts.
Last season, Watt won the 2017 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, which is given to the league’s player that is most active with charity work.
