This year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) season has reached the final stage and the star-studded show is on the verge of ending. Telecom giant Reliance has been super active throughout the IPL season with its intriguing cricket plans, web shows and live mobile games. As the season is ending, Jio is offering its subscribers free add-on data to stream the last playoff and final match of the season. With the beginning of the IPL season this year, Jio started rolling new recharge plans to entice cricket fans. Jio started with a cricket pack priced at Rs.251 that offers 2GB of 4G data every day for 51 days. With this plan, the subscribers were able to stream all live IPL matches over the period of 51 days.
The new cricket add-on pack offers a total of 2GB of 4G data. The plan carries a validity of 4 days, keeping the last playoffs and final match in mind. So, the company is offering a complementary data of 8GB to entice the cricket fans from its subscribers base. As mentioned, the data cap for the pack is 2GB per day, users will get unlimited access at a speed of 64Kbps after they exhaust their data limit for the day. Jio has not commented on the availability of the add-on pack. It is still not clear if the pack is limited.
In order to check if you are activated with the new add-on cricket pack, simply open the MyJio app. Now go to the My Plans section on the app. Here, you will a free add-on pack worth Rs. 101 mentioned in the section. You can also check in Plan Details tab or Summary tab in My Statements section. It is important to note that this plan is only an add-on pack, so there will be no voice calling or SMS benefits.
As mentioned earlier, Jio launched a cricket starter pack at the beginning of the IPL season this year. The plan, priced at Rs. 251 offers a total of 102GB of 4G to stream live IPL matched. The plan carries a validity of 51 days. The offer was specifically launched for the IPL viewers, but Jio never mentioned that it was strictly restricted to cricket streaming only. The data can be used for any purpose. The new complimentary pack worth Rs. 101 also follows the same suit. You can recharge with Rs. 101 to activate the add-on pack and use the data for any purpose.
Apart from the loaded cricket pack, Jio also rolled out a cricket teaser pack that offered an additional 8GB of 4G data for a period of 4 days. This pack was a teaser indeed for the Jio subscribers as this pack was to rope in all the users nation-wide who had not even bought the Rs. 251 recharge. After Jio rolled their cricket pack, state-run BSNL also announced a Rs. 248 prepaid pack that offered 3GB of data per day for a time period of 51 days. However, the speeds for the plan are limited to 3G in the majority of circles. BSNL currently provides 4G services in Kerela only. Also, this pack was available to purchase only until April 30. Airtel also announced that its subscribers will be able to stream the IPL 2018 matches on Airtel TV app for free ruling the need of a Hotstar subscription.
Apart from the recharge packs, Jio also released a live mobile game called Jio Cricket Play Along. The game is available across the IPL 2018 matches and can be played in multiple languages. Furthermore, the game is claimed to offer real-time interaction during the cricket matches, and involved prize-winning contests Reliance Jio also launched a new mini web series featuring personalities like comedian Sunil Grover and anchor Samir Kochhar who are seen hosting the “unseen off-the-field experience, exclusive comments by Cricket experts, a hearty dose of laughter, and celebrity guests” every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday throughout the IPL season. The show can be streamed through the MyJio app.
