Trump offers reassurance over China trade: 'Be cool'

President Trump on Sunday said the United States and China have a positive trade relationship despite previous unfair trade deals, adding that any issues “will all work out.”
“China and the United States are working well together on trade, but past negotiations have been so one sided in favor of China, for so many years, that it is hard for them to make a deal that benefits both countries,” the president wrote on Twitter. “But be cool, it will all work out!”
“Too many jobs in China lost. Commerce Department has been instructed to get it done!” the president said Sunday morning.
The Commerce Department last month prohibited U. S. companies from selling to ZTE, claiming the telecommunications firm violated American sanctions.
Trump has railed against China for its trade practices, but has also insisted that he and Xi have a positive relationship.
“President Xi and I will always be friends, no matter what happens with our dispute on trade. China will take down its Trade Barriers because it is the right thing to do,” Trump said last month as both China and the United States threatened to enact tariffs on each other.
“Taxes will become Reciprocal & a deal will be made on Intellectual Property. Great future for both countries!” the president added at the time.
